The Riyadh Season Cup in Saudi Arabia saw Inter Miami lose 6-0 against Al Nassr at Kingdom Arena. At the same time, Messi, who was originally ruled out of the starting lineup due to injury, barely appeared in the last 14 minutes of the match.

A SUDDEN HEART ATTACK

A year ago, on May 11, 2020, John suffered a heart attack due to a clotting disorder in his blood vessels. He was hospitalized and was quickly brought back to a stable condition. The news was first announced by his wife, Mary Meadows, and the news of his recovery had put the bodybuilding community’s mind at ease. 

A LOVING WIFE – MARY

John Meadows shared a very special relationship with his wife and often said that she was his biggest influence. John mentioned that she was the one who was with him through “ups” and “downs,” always supporting his decisions in life. 

“I couldn’t have done it without her,” John Meadows said fondly of his wife. “When I was sick and got out of the hospital, and I was too weak to look after myself, she did everything for me, including sanitary things I can’t talk about.”

“If I say I want to do something, we’ll talk about it, make sure it’s workable, and then she gets behind me and supports the idea and me all the way. And when I’m hurting the last three or four weeks of my diet, she sees the look on my face and says, ‘just hang in there, it’s going to be worth it.’ and I need to hear that at that stage.”, he added.

The heart attack didn’t stop John from doing what he always did. He continued coaching and being a nutritionist to many aspiring bodybuilders. As recent as this weekend, one of his students, Brooke Walker, won the Europa Phoenix Games 2021 and earned her Olympia qualification. 

It has not yet been understood if his death was related to his previous heart attack or blood clotting disorder, but we reckon the pulmonary embolism was, in fact, caused by his blood disorder. 

LOVED AND MISSED

John Meadows was very well known as a prominent bodybuilder and a beloved father and a husband. A vital part of the bodybuilding community over the past few decades, Meadows and will be missed dearly by his family and friends and the entire community.

Many bodybuilders from around the country have begun sending an outpour of support via social media upon hearing the sad news.

“I’m absolutely f*****g decimated. Rest in peace, John Meadows. One of the most down to earth, supportive, and overall wholesome motherf*****s to ever walk the planet. IFBB Pro, Legendary coach, loving father, revered man. @mountaindog1 forever a legend.”, tweeted a follower and an avid Meadows fan.

“John changed the fitness industry and the way that bodybuilders think and approach training & nutrition. He always had you question everything you do and why you do it. He taught me and so many others so much through his extensive content.”, wrote bodybuilder Harry Harris on Instagram. 

“Most importantly, an incredible role model to his children.”

A THOROUGH PLANNER FROM THE START

During his playing days, he would write down game plans and tactics, and notes in his notepad before each game and at the start of the season. Then, he would make calculations about the things that he needed to focus on and the things he needed to avoid. 

During his rookie years as a guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Faneca went to Canton, Ohio, along with his team for the annual NFL Hall of Fame preseason game. While Faneca was left amazed with his dreams when he entered the hall, his dreams will finally come alive when his bust will be enshrined at the same hall this weekend.

“It was always a goal,” Faneca told in an interview with a local radio station. “But I had several goals before that I had to attain. It was always something off in the distance that, you know, shoot for the stars and see where you land.”

“I landed in the stars. It’s pretty amazing.”, said Faneca being very pleased. 

What is more amazing is, Faneca contemplated giving up football when he was a teenager, as he doubted that he was not going to make it.

ALMOST AN EARLY RETIREMENT

Born in New Orleans in 1976, Faneca played football for four years at his high school before his family moved to Rosenberg, Texas. There he went on to finish his prep career at Lamar Consolidated High School. At the young age of 15, Alan Faneca was diagnosed with epilepsy, putting his footballing future in doubt.

“It was Christmas eve of my freshman year in high school,” Faneca said. “We were at my great grandmother’s house for a big family event. I didn’t know it was a seizure. I was wandering around the house crying, not knowing what happened. Then I had another and another.”

After months of tests and hospital visits, his doctor prescribed medication that controlled the onset of seizures and allowed him to keep playing the sport that he so loved.

“He said it so fast that I could keep playing, I asked him again,”, said Faneca explaining that he couldn’t believe his ears when his doctor told him the good news. “I said, ‘Doc, you do know what football is, right?’

AN EXCITING PROSPECT FROM THE START

Some years later, Faneca had turned himself into an exciting prospect, named the Greater Houston Offensive Player of the Year by the Houston Touchdown Club in 1993; he signed with LSU in 1994 and was there waiting for coach Gerry DiNardo to arrive at the end of his redshirt season. DiNardo was quick to recognize the talent Faneca possessed and knew that he would go on to become one of the great players in time if properly coached.  

“He had great feet, as they say,” said DiNardo. “He learned to play the game with great body position. Hips lower than his shoulders, hitting on the rise. The technical things he was really good at.”

“As a teammate goes, he was one of most well-liked guys. Very popular. Had a lot of close friends.”, added DiNardo, praising Faneca and his sportsmanship.

ONE OF THE 5 WHO WON ALL SIX MAJOR HONORS

Faneca went on to earn the All-SEC and All-American honors as a junior and senior and was also an Outland Trophy finalist his final year. Facing a huge dilemma as to whether to finish college or focus on football, Faneca took the monumental decision of forgoing his senior season with the college and went pro a year early than he was supposed to. 

Faneca won one title with the Steelers in Super Bowl XL in the 2005 season, with his team securing a  21-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

In 13 seasons, Faneca started 201 of 206 career games and is one of the only five guards in NFL history to earn six All-Pro honors. 

His former coach Bill Cowher called Alan Faneca the heart and soul of Pittsburgh’s defensive line.

Faneca went on to play in various teams in the NFL, including the Arizona Cardinals, and played for two years with the New York Jets. After deciding to retire in 2010, Faneca decided to focus on his fitness and took up running. 

FITNESS AFTER RETIREMENT

The achiever only performed as we expect of him, but drastically slimming down that leaves everyone’s jaws dropped.  Within three years of retirement, Faneca lost more than 100 pounds from his playing weight of 322 lbs and participated and completed a marathon.

LIFE AS A COACH

The Faneca family moved to Virginia Beach, which also happens to be the hometown of Alan’s wife, Julie Faneca. Having met in the freshman year at LSU, the couple has two beautiful children, Bourton and Annabelle. 

Faneca eventually shifted to coaching football like his predecessors and spent two years as an assistant coach at The Potomac School in McLean, Virginia. After that, he spent two more seasons coaching offensive linemen at the Cox High School in Virginia Beach, where he lives happily with his family now. 

Last May, Alan Faneca was named the head coach at Cox, a challenge that Alan is sure to come out on top of.  

ALAN REMEMBERS HIS MASTER

During his fall of fame enshrinement ceremony, he invited his coach DiNardo to attend as one of his guests alongside his family.  

“That made me feel really good,” DiNardo said. “You never know how former players feel about you. I just think the world of him.”

There’s no doubt that women fall head to toes for football players and athletes, likewise, Julian Edelman is a man who has been headhunted by many girls over the years, but the New England Patriots regular is currently in a relationship with Daiane Sodre.

WHO IS DAIANE SODRE?

Sodre, one of the top fashion models from Brazil, had already established herself in the limelight of the modeling industry a long way before she was linked with the footballer. She has featured for popular brands, including Pretty Little Thing, Riachuelo, Victoria’s Secret, Aeropostale, and more.

The relationship, kept private from the people, was thought to be serious when the couple posted quarantine pictures together during the lockdown, and recently, the Brazilian expressed her excitement about the new NFL season, starting by commenting on Edelman’s social media post.

Daiane Sodre Da Silva was born on March 11, 1993, in Baixa Grande, Brazil.

A beautiful child, Sodre’s parents named her after the name of a Princess of Wales, Diana. The 5ft 11 inches tall model has glowing skin and a fit body that measures 33-24-34. 

FASHION CAREER

Starting her modeling career in 2011, Daiane started her journey with Marilyn NY, a Paris-based modeling agency. Soon after that, she started appearing in the photoshoots of the fashion brand Ralph Lauren.

She then received offers from and worked for multinational brands like Victoria’s Secret, American lingerie, and beauty lines. 

She made it to the cover page of L’Officiel Brasil, the top glamour magazine in Brazil, and gained fame in other countries like L’Officiel Switzerland, Elle South Africa, and Wonderland Magazine.

After switching her workplace to New York, she has been seen on covers of American fashion magazines like Cosmopolitan and Nylon.

CHARITABLE WORKS

Sodre also serves as the ambassador for Brazil Child Health, where she was appointed in 2018. The Brazilian nonprofit organization focuses on providing children of poor families with weak economic backgrounds to get proper medical care and support.  

Daiane Sodre has conducted a number of charity events and fundraisers whose proceeds go to the agency and the trust to help take on the noble cause. 

JULIAN EDELMAN GIRLFRIEND

The fact that Julian Edelman is dating Daiane Sodre started as a rumor in early 2018. Media houses speculated that the couple was secretly dating after they were spotted in Martha’s Vineyard beach sharing a moment.

Despite not making public appearances together, the duo was seen having romantic getaways and intimate moments in multiple social media posts, and they were very active in acknowledging each other on social media, with posts, tags, and comments. 

Edelman expressed his desire to ding a stepmother for his daughter to fuel things even further, but he did not mention if he was seeing anyone. 

As of now, the relationship still stands unofficial, and we are technically only making assumptions as to what the couple might decide for themselves next. 

PAST RELATIONSHIPS:

Julian Edelman, the handsome wide receiver in the NFL, has had no shortage of female attraction in his life. 

Ever since his high school days, he has regularly been in a romantic relationship till today. 

In high school, his girlfriend was his classmate, Jaqui Rice. The two dated since grade 8 and shared various moments together, but things changed when Edelman started focusing on his footballing career and ended things with Rice. 

Julian Edelman was linked heavily with AnnaLynne McCord in the year 2014 when the model and actress posted a selfie on Instagram, tagging the footballer. Although this only remained as yet another speculation, sources state that the two did date briefly, but everything was kept lowkey. 

Julian Edelman was in a relationship with another model, Ella Rose, from 2014-2016. The two were confirmed couples that did appear in public, and Ella even gave birth to Julian’s daughter, Lily, who was born in December 2016. 

Ella, a Swedish model, was being cheated on by Edelman, who was by late 2016, already seeing someone else. 

However, despite moving on, Edelman agreed to pay child support for their newborn. 

Edelman had started dating Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima in late 2016. News surfaced about the couple when they were seen holding hands at a local seafood restaurant in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The relationship did not survive long, as the two had to stay apart for long times due to the polar opposite lines of work, and also, it has been revealed that Lima wanted a child with Edelman, something he was not ready for. 

SODRE’S PAST ROMANTIC ENDEAVORS

Daiane Sodre, too, has had a few love interests in her past, with her relationship with rapper A$AP Rocky being public in 2019. The two were seen in public on multiple occasions, but we do not know why they split up after less than a year. 

Before that, she was linked to singer Joe Jonas, but the relationship was never confirmed by either involved. They were seen going out for lunch and dinner dates together, but that saga too fizzled out like any other. 

FUTURE?

As we have understood thus far, love does not come easy, and maintaining a relationship is no easy task. Both Daiane Sodre and Julian Edelman seem to have faced a similar fate in their romantic pursuits, with no proper long-lasting relationship history shared between the two.
