Purcell got a chance to start the 2021 season at the 2021 Great Ocean Road Open, where he defeated Norbert Gombos with his first ATP victory. Purcell lost to Karen Khachanov in the second round. Purcell won his first opponent in the top 20 after beating World No. 16 and top seed Gaël Monfils in Eastbourne as Lucky Loser reached his first quarterfinal of the first ATP  and then recorded another victory with Andreas Seppi to earn his first semi-finalists. Another Italian, Lorenzo Sonego, defeated him. After this great competition, he won his second Challenger singles title, the 2021 Presidential Cup (tennis) at Nur Sultan. As a result, he was successful to enter the top 200 in the professional category in singles No. 190 on July 19, 2021.

At the 2020 Olympics, Purcell was replaced by Andy Murray’s last-minute replacement, who had been sidelined due to a leg injury. Purcell recorded his most significant career victory and more than 20 leading players for the first time, defeating the world no. 15 Félix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. Purcell also replaced Alex de Minaur in a double ceremony after being tested for COVID-19. Purcell teamed up with John Peers but lost in the first round.

The 2022 season became a defining year for Purcell. Partnering Matthew Ebden, he won the men’s doubles championship at Wimbledon. The Australian pair defeated Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić in a five-set final to claim their first Grand Slam title. The victory established Purcell as one of the world’s leading doubles players.

Purcell continued to develop his singles career in 2023. He won three consecutive ATP Challenger titles in Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune and put together an 18-match winning streak. His strong results helped him break into the singles top 100.

At the Cincinnati Open in 2023, Purcell produced another major breakthrough by defeating World No. 7 Casper Ruud. He went on to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. His performances throughout the season eventually pushed him to a career-high singles ranking of World No. 40 in October 2023.

In 2024, Purcell continued competing successfully in both singles and doubles. He reached his first ATP singles final at Eastbourne after coming through qualifying, finishing runner-up to Taylor Fritz.

His doubles season was even more successful. Partnering Jordan Thompson, Purcell reached the Wimbledon final in 2024 before losing to Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten. The Australian pair then went on to win the US Open men’s doubles title, defeating Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz in the final.

The US Open victory gave Purcell his second Grand Slam doubles title and helped him reach a career-high doubles ranking of World No. 8 in September 2024.

However, Purcell’s career was interrupted at the end of 2024. In December, he voluntarily entered a provisional suspension after admitting to an anti-doping rule violation involving intravenous infusions.

In April 2025, the International Tennis Integrity Agency confirmed that Purcell had accepted an 18-month suspension under the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme. The violation involved receiving intravenous infusions exceeding the permitted 100-millilitre limit within a 12-hour period. The ITIA stated that the infusions contained no prohibited substance; the violation concerned the prohibited method and volume of the infusion. Purcell’s cooperation with the investigation resulted in a 25 percent reduction of the sanction.

The suspension was backdated to December 12, 2024, when his provisional suspension began, meaning Purcell became eligible to compete again on June 11, 2026.

Max Purcell 2026 Comeback

Max Purcell returned to competitive tennis in June 2026 after completing his 18-month suspension. He announced the end of his suspension on social media and began rebuilding his career through the Challenger circuit.

His comeback has required him to rebuild both his ranking and match fitness after spending roughly a year and a half away from sanctioned competition. Purcell has competed in Challenger events rather than immediately returning to the top level of the ATP Tour.

His 2026 results have included Challenger victories and appearances in events such as Kingston and Phan Thiet. On September 8, 2026, Purcell was competing at the Phan Thiet 3 Challenger in Vietnam, where he entered the tournament around World No. 803 in singles.

The dramatic ranking decline is largely a consequence of his suspension and the loss of ranking points during his period away from competition. Before the suspension, Purcell had been one of the world’s top doubles players and had reached No. 8 in the doubles rankings.

His current position therefore does not accurately represent the level he had reached before his absence. At 28, Purcell still has the opportunity to rebuild his ranking and return to the higher levels of professional tennis.

Max Purcell’s exact net worth has not been officially disclosed. His career earnings from professional tennis have reached several million U.S. dollars, supported by his Grand Slam performances, ATP Tour appearances, Challenger victories and doubles success.

UNITED STATES MAKE HISTORY

Certainly, there have been more dominant and talented squads that have represented the United States at the major sporting carnival, but no national team had ever won the country as much glory as this squad has.

After securing an 87-82 victory over France on Saturday, the United States Men’s Basketball team secured a fourth consecutive gold in Basketball in the Summer Olympics, winning their 16th title.

THE LEGEND MAKES ANOTHER GOLD

There will be long-lasting memories of the games for the team and the coaches, including the entire nation of the United States.

Kevin Durant, the player who added a glorious chapter to his career by scoring 29 points to seal the victory for his country, also bagged his third straight Olympic gold.

Apart from the Olympics, Durant has already won the NBA two times in 2017 and 2018 and has agreed to a new $198 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets on the same day he won the gold for his country.

“This is one of those special journeys,” said Durant. “When you’re a part of a team that’s evolving by the second, it’s amazing to see. Each game we continued to grow. I’m grateful we all committed to it, we stuck with it, and we finished it off.”

EARLY CONTROL IN THE GAME

Durant scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half, giving his team some breathing space from the French raid that was coming in waves. Facing a size disadvantage, the United States men were left to defend against 7ft tall Frenchmen that had 7ft 2in Rudy Gobert as the spearhead of the attack.

The United States was forced to play foul a number of times in desperate attempts to save points being scored, but fortunately, Gobert only converted 6 of the 13 free shots awarded. He finished the game with 16 points.

KEVIN DURANT IS THE MVP

“KD is not special because he’s so talented. The way he works on his game is more impressive,” said the United States team coach Gregg Popovich. “The relationship he builds with teammates, the respect he garners, the joy he has in playing, it’s like osmosis. It goes into all the players.”

Being a humble player, Durant shrugged off the heaps of praises that his coach and teammates were pouring on him and said that the massive victory was a team effort.

PRAISES LAID ON DURANT

“Kevin Durant is exactly who we thought he was,” said teammate Draymond Green, who was in the team with Durant when they won NBA with Golden State as well as the 2016 Olympic gold for the USA. “He’s one of the greatest players to ever play this game. One of the most special guys you’ve ever seen lace their shoes up and take a basketball court.”

Discussing the hero of the game, Durant, and his role for the team, the USA Basketball executive director Jerry Colangelo, who is retiring from the post after 16 years, was in tears.

“He is a very special guy. He loves the game. He loves USA basketball. He’s got that kind of character.” said Colangelo.

THE UNITED STATES HELD THEIR GROUND

With a tired Durant substituted in the second half of the game, Jayson Tatum, his replacement, played his role as a ‘scorer off the bench’ with grace.

Facing darkhorse France, who came back in the fourth quarter to beat the United States in both the 2019 FIBA World Cup and in the pool play last month, Tatum, including the entire team, held their nerves and held off the French for the title.

HOLIDAY AND MIDDLETON MAKE HISTORY

Milwaukee Bucks players Jrue Holiday and his teammate Khris Middleton became just the fifth and sixth players to win the NBA and Olympic gold medalists in the same year, adding more glory to the United States. The other players before them to achieve this feat are Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Scottie Pippen.

“I guess me thinking about it and me telling the story, that’s a hell of a summer,” an overjoyed Holiday said.

THE COACH PROVES HE’S STILL GOT IT

The victory was, more importantly, a moment to savor for head coach Papovich. Having faced a stressful summer with late roster changes and last-minute decisions to be made because of the COVID 19 pandemic, the legendary coach, known as “Pop” around the basketball world, was able to prove that he had nerves of steel in the stage that mattered the most.

Dealing with heavy pressure during the roster preparation to keep the gold-medal-winning streak together, Pop was left scrambling to piece strategies together to prove his worth yet again.

“Every championship is special, every group you’re with is special, but I can be honest and say this is the most responsibility I’ve ever felt,” said Pop. “The responsibility is awesome, and I felt it every day for several years. I’m feeling pretty wiped out.”

Chase Kalisz Early Life and Family

Chase Tyler Kalisz, Olympian, was born March 7, 1994, in Bel Air, Maryland, USA. His father, Mike, is a sports director at Hereford High in Baltimore County. His mother, Cathey, on the other hand, works for the government. Chase grew up in a loving family with three other brothers, his older sister Courtney, his younger brother Connor, and his younger sister Cassidy. The Kalisz family tended to swim, and naturally, a little chase started in them. But a terrible accident made his family wonder if he could walk, let alone swim again.

Chase Kalisz Health issue

He was only eight years at the time and a sports kid. One night he woke up with severe pain in his legs and had to be taken to the hospital. You have been diagnosed with Guillain Barre syndrome, a debilitating disease that eventually paralyzes your body. Due to immediate medical attention, Chase may be out for a week but must be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital to ensure his organs are fully functional. Specific treatment in the pool acts as a charm to him. While some patients are discharged from the hospital in 6-8 months, pediatric chases are only released three months. The determined child refused to use the wheelchair or walker, going his own way.

During his healing process, he used swimming as a remedy. And look, he was starting to compete again after only a year. His family’s sports arena was instrumental in his travels. All of his siblings are skilled traffickers. A little chase followed in the footsteps of his older sister.

He coached at the North Baltimore water club, a well-known Paul Yetter coach. In addition, he had set various national team records. As the family says, “He was a natural person.” The friendly banter between the siblings in terms of their success developed a sense of competition in Kalisz. So he started training hard, and he went to that water club. While Injuries have reduced Courtney’s work, Chase has continued to do his best. After graduating in the year 2012, he even competed in the Olympic trials but could not make the team.

Olympic gold is the dream of every athlete. Similarly, it was the pursuit of goals that have been preserved since they began swimming. Yes, Chase Kalisz won silver in 2016, but he was not satisfied. However, he did not give up his hunger for gold and pursued a high-level training regime to prepare Tokyo fully. During the second day of the competition, he swam the 400-meter I.M. final at 4:09:42, earning a gold medal.

Since this victory, he was the first to win the U.S. gold medal at the 2020 Olympics. After his impressive win, all eyes were on Chase to see that he had achieved the same result in another event he participated in, the 200m I.M. But unfortunately, swimming is a very competitive sport with only a millisecond difference between competitors. As a result, he is ranked sixth in the semifinals and has not made it to the finals. However, Chase has finally chosen Olympic gold from the to-do list. It will be interesting to see how his work progresses.
