Stackhouse is the daughter of Ken Stackhouse, a former architect, and Sharon Stackhouse, a hospital administrator. Mariah Stackhouse was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 4, 1994. she has two step-siblings and a younger brother named John. Mariah attended Stanford University after graduating from North Clayton High School.

Mariah began playing golf at a young age. She tied for first place in her first tournament when she was six years old. Stackhouse was elected class president for the second time in a row. Stackhouse received numerous scholarship offers but chose to play for Stanford University. The player finished sixth in the individual competition in 2015 and led her team to the NCAA Division I Championship.
During her junior year of high school, Mariah Stackhouse was home-schooled. After leading Stanford University’s women’s team to a national championship in 2015, Stackhouse, 22, graduated this spring with a degree in communications, returned to her hometown of Atlanta, and turned professional. She signed an endorsement deal with KPMG (which also sponsors Phil Mickelson and Stacy Lewis) and cut in her first LPGA Tour event, the Cambia Portland Classic, after receiving a sponsor’s exemption.
Stackhouse earned Priority List Category 17 status for the 2017 LPGA season after finishing in a tie for 21st place at the LPGA Qualifying Tournament. She became the seventh African American woman to earn an LPGA Tour card when she made her professional debut in the Portland Classic in June 2016.
Stackhouse finished seventh in the 2018 ShopRite LPGA Classic, her best finish to that point in her professional career.
