Maverick McNealy was born in Portola Valley, California 7th November 1995 to his parents Scott and Susan McNealy. Maverick’s father Scott G. McNealy is a businessman who is renowned for founding the computer technology giant Sun Microsystems. He grew up with three siblings, Scout, Colt, Dakota McNealy, all three of them are surprisingly named after types of firearms. The twenty-six-year-old golfer stands 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) tall and weighs around 170 lbs.

    Stanford Life

After finishing school, Maverick McNealy enrolled at Stanford University in Stanford, California. There he picked up golfing, a sport in which he excelled from the early stages. McNealy qualified for the 2014 U.S. Open when he was only 18 years old and during the 2014−15 season, while playing in the Conference Championship tournament, McNealy shot a 61 in the final round of the Pac-12, equalling the 18-hole record held by former Stanford alumni Tiger Woods and Cameron Wilson.

In 2015, he was presented with the Haskins Award, which is given annually to the best collegiate male golfer in the United States. He became the third Stanford University golfer to win the award since 1971. The other two players to win were Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers, who too went to Stanford. He also appeared in the U.S. National Golfing team as an amateur.

    Professional Career

Despite being one of America’s most highly rated professional golf prospects in 2016, McNealy considered limiting golf to only a “weekend hobby” in favor of a career in business. However, the next year, in August 2017, McNealy confirmed that he would take his turn in being a professional after the Walker Cup. Maverick McNealy made his professional golfing debut at the Safeway Open. Maverick McNealy played on the Web.com Tour in 2018. He participated in 18 tournaments, making the cut in 12. His best finish was a tie for third place at the United Leasing & Finance Championship. McNealy earned a total sum of $84,261 and finished 65th on the money list for the 2018 calendar year.

He did not earn enough points to win him a PGA Tour card for the 2018–19 season, but he did gain full status on the Web.com Tour for the 2019 season. And after performing with good results in the 2019 Web.com tour, he earned the PGA Tour card for 2019/20.

    Achievements

Although not having achieved professional silverware glory yet, Maverick McNealy certainly did win trophies as an amateur. While representing the United States on a national level, he won the Arnold Palmer Cup twice in 2015 and 2017. He also won the Walker Cup twice the same two years and an Eisenhower Trophy in 2016.

    Love Life

Maverick McNealy has been in a romantic relationship with Danielle Kang since 2019, who is also a professional golfer. She currently plays on the LPGA Tour, and as an amateur, she has won the U.S. Women’s Amateur tournament twice, in 2010 and 2011. She has also won the LAPG Tour 5 times as a professional. The couple has been dating for almost three years now and is looking to take their relationship to the next level.

    Social Media

McNealy is followed by 11 thousand fans on his Instagram account which he uses to connect with them. He doesn’t seem to use Twitter and we could not find any accounts bearing credibility that relate to him. His father Scott however, has 15 thousand followers and he sometimes posts updates about Maverick using the platform.

    Net Worth

Having being born into a wealthy family, Maverick McNealy was not a privileged child. His father was a strict man who told McNealy to find a job as soon as he finishes college or starts paying rent if he wants to stay in the house. Maverick excelled at golf, and despite having a fortune on his platter, chose to pursue his passion. He has already earned over $1.7 million in his short professional career, but he has stated that he is not in the game for the money.

Maverick is an heir to an $800m fortune which he will inherit from his father Scott, who sold his company Sun Microsystems to Oracle in 2009, for almost $5.6 billion.  This makes Maverick McNealy the richest golfer there is, way above Tiger Woods who is valued at around $700 million.
