    Early Life of Gunnar Henderson

Gunnar Henderson was born in Montgomery, Alabama, United States, on June 29, 2001. His parents are Kerry and Allen Henderson. He went to school at the  Morgan Academy in Selma, Alabama where he excelled in baseball and basketball. At 20 years of age, Henderson is showing promise to be one of the best in the MLB scene. He also was the Low-A East Player of the Month in May.

    Performance

Performing very consistently with the Baltimore Orioles, Gunnar Henderson has been maintaining a record of very pleasing results in recent years. During his appearances in 47 games in the 2021 season, he has made 48 hits and scored 35 runs. During those matches, he made 89 bases and scored 9 home runs.  Just as an amateur, Gunnar Henderson’s batting average stands at 0.273, while an average of 0.300 is considered exceptionally good, a feat achieved by experienced professionals. It can’t be denied that he will reach that mark of a professional, given he continues to play and develop in years to come. Henderson said that experience at training camp and in a similar challenging environment, last spring helped launch him to his success.

    Baltimore Orioles

Gunnar Henderson was the first pick of the second round in the 2019 Draft of the MLB. Before that, he was the Alabama basketball and baseball player of the year. Baltimore Orioles signed him for a hefty fee of $2.3 million to make him shift to the pros, dropping high school after they saw a lot of prospects in him. Henderson performed very well in the Gulf Coast League as an 18-year-old rookie and started to turn a lot of heads in the training ground as well as the MLB scouting network. He impressively showed a variety of skill sets exclusively against advanced pitchings than that he had faced previously in his career.

    Future

2021 is going to be a big year for Henderson as he makes a push into Baseball America’s Top 100 charts, and hopefully the upper echelons of the minors soon after. Gunnar Henderson’s probable starting spot for the next season looks to be in Aberdeen, where the IronBirds serve as the High-A affiliates to the Baltimore Orioles. Truly outstanding performance with them is sure to earn him a promotion to Double-A Bowie in the summer, but the Orioles bar for promoting is sometimes quite a difficult cliff to climb, and they won’t push one of their top prospects faster than they think is best suited for his development.

There might be a glimpse of Henderson in spring training, but according to a team official,  “The exposure to the major league side will be done gradually.”

    Physique

Standing at 6ft 3 inches, Gunnar Henderson is a sturdy left-handed batter and is a hard hitter of the ball. He weighs around 210 lbs and imposes a sturdy build that he uses to play his fine shots. His build and playing style has certainly had an impression on the people who are closely monitoring him and he can be compared to the likes of Corey Seager. The power he exerts during plays is at an optimum level and along with that, he has a plus arm, very quick and agile around the bases for a person of his size. All combined with a strong work ethic, Henderson is something that can be molded into the “perfect player” if groomed correctly.
