Racing Career

Robert Shwartzman, a child prodigy, began karting at the age of five in 2004. He raced karts until 2013, winning many championships around Europe, including the Easykart International Grand Final (2005) and the WSK Final Cup KFJ (2013). He also finished third in the 2013 KFJ World Championship and fourth in the KFJ European Championship.

He started his racing career by being a single-seated racing driver in Formula 4. His best results came in the 2017 Formula Renault Eurocup championship, where he won six races and finished on the podium 12 times. Despite his outstanding results, he had to settle for third place.

He was the only driver in the season to finish any of the 15 races outside of the ‘Top 5′ positions when he won the 2018 Toyota Racing Series, New Zealand’s premier open-wheel motorsport category event. Surprisingly, he only won one of the 15 races, although five other drivers won two or more. In reality, Richard Verschoor, who finished second, had won six races to Robert’s one, but Robert’s consistency helped him win the championship by five points (916 to 911).

In his first season in the series, he won the FIA Formula 3 Championship. He qualified on the pole for the first race of the season and finished second. However, due to a time penalty levied on the original race winner Christian Lundgaard, he was elevated to the rice winner after the event.

For the 2020 season, he was expected to run for Prema Racing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship alongside Mick Schumacher. The season was unfortunately postponed due to the global coronavirus outbreak, which sadly claimed his father as one of its victims in April 2020. In an interview, Robert claimed that he would devote all of his future victories to his father, who had a hugely positive effect on his career.

He was supposed to race in the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but he didn’t attend the event.
