Michael Jerome Williams Jr. was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 28, 1986. His biological father’s name is Michael Jerome Williams Sr. and his mother’s name is Denise Oher. His parents gave birth to 11 other children. Oher’s parents did not give much assistance to their children. Denise was hooked to crack cocaine, and Michael Sr. was regularly in prison. As a consequence, Oher was often homeless and in and out of foster care.
He also struggled in school, repeating first and second grades and attending 11 different schools over the course of his first nine years. While Oher was studying in high school, his estranged father was slain.
