Seydou Keita Early Life

Born in Bamako, Mali, Keita established football in France with Olympique de Marseille, joining the club at 17. Seydou Keita played mainly for the reserve team during his three-year tenure.
After that, Keita signed for FC Lorient in Ligue 2 and was instrumental (37 games, one goal) as the club rose to prominence in 2001.
On July 11, 2007, Keita signed a four-year contract with Sevilla FC for a transfer fee of € 4 million. Payment, plus a profit of 10–15% of the team’s money if it sells the player more than 4 million Euros.
On May 26, 2008, Keita signed a four-year deal with FC Barcelona for a € 14 million transfer clause (making Lens eligible for € 1.3 million from Sevilla). He became the first Malaysian player ever to represent the Catalans, and his new release clause was set at € 90 million.
On October 25, 2009, Seydou Keita scored his first hat-trick in his career, winning 6-1 at home against Real Zaragoza, and was involved in 29 games – starting with 23 – as Barcelona is reviving its domestic power.
On July 7, 2012, Seydou Keita announced he would leave Barcelona four seasons later, requesting a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave the club despite having two years left.
On January 30, 2014, Keita returned to Spain after signing with Valencia CF, 34, agreeing to a six-month deal for a one-year extension. On June 5, 2014, Keita signed a one-year contract with Serie A club A.S. Romans.
He made his debut match on the first day of the season, against ACF Fiorentina (2-0), and scored his first goal on November 9 to help defeat Torino F.C. 3-0 and at the Stadio Olimpico.
Keita helped Mali under-20 players finish third in the FIFA World Youth Championship in Nigeria in 1999, scored just one goal in their last match against Uruguay, and was named the tournament’s all-time leading scorer.
He made his debut in Mali on April 9, 2000, in a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Libya. After that, he wore the No.12 shirt while representing the country in six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
In 2010 in Angola, he scored two goals, both goals in a 4-4 victory over the home team, leading 4–0 with 11 minutes left.
However, Les Aigles could not make it through the group stage. Nevertheless, from 2007 to 2008, he scored eight impressive goals in 20 international games from his midfield.
