Senior Career
His senior career began with Sydney FC at 17, which he joined on a two-year deal on July 20, 2014. Alex debuted for the Sky Blues in a trial match versus the Macarthur Rams, which they won by 5-1.
On October 11, 2014, he debuted in A-League in a 1–1 home draw match against Melbourne City. He came on to replace Matthew Jurman in the 70th minute.
After spending 1 and a half years at Sidney, he moved to Norwegian club Rosenborg BK on January 31, 2016. However, on January 22, 2018, Rosenborg transferred him to the French side, Lens, on loan for six months.
On January 23, 2019, NAC Breda, a Dutch team, signed him on a two-and-a-half-year contract. In July 2019, he joined AGF, Dennish club, and inked a 3-year contract.
On August 31, 2021, he signed a 2-year contract with French Ligue 2 club Grenoble.
International Career
Alex made his first international debut in a match against Greece on June 4, 2016. He came on as a substitute for Brad Smith in the 82nd minute and later assisted a goal to Mathew Leckie’s last-second winner.
