Tennell started skating when she was 2, so she had to wear orthotics in her shoes to correct pronation of the hip problem. Her first rink was near Crystal Lake, Illinois.

At ten years of age, she won her first competition. Tennell placed first at the Upper Great Lakes regional, qualifying for the 2010 U.S. Junior Nationals two years later. Although she placed 10th place, she gained more experience.

Tennell participated in several Upper Great lakes Regionals and Midwestern Sectionals, and in 2012 she placed third in both. Later in 2014, Tennell placed 4th at the 2014 U.S. Nationals and 2nd at the Gardena Spring Trophy as a junior.

In the 2014-15 season, Bradie Tennell competed at the Nagoya TV Cup in Japan and came in eighth place. She placed second in the 2015 Midwestern Sectionals.

Tennell placed first place and won a gold medal as a junior in the 2015 U.S. Championships, also called her “breakout moment ” by NBC Sports. Three months after the Nationals, Tennell fractured both her winds of a lumbar vertebra.

Tennell returned for the 2015-16 season but again suffered the same back injury but to a different vertebra. As a result, she had not trained for months, and Tennell told Time magazine that not skating was not pleasant or fun for her.

However, she said it made her love skating more and more motivated.

Although Tennell missed six months of competition over two years, she made her senior international debut in November 2016 and placed third place. In the 2017 World Junior Championships, she placed seventh in the free skate and short program.

For the 2017-18 season, Tennell improved her component scores and artistry. In 2018, she competed in the Olympics, representing the states, and won a bronze medal.

Tennell attended the U.S. Figure Skating’s Champs Camp in the 2018-19 season. Then, in August 2020, she announced to change her coach Denise Myers for Tom Zakrajsek and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Three years after her title, Bradie Tennell secured another one in the U.S. Nationals in 2021 for the second time. But unfortunately, in the 2021 Skate America, Tennell withdrew from her first Grand Prix assignment due to a foot injury.

On December 28, 2021, she announced her withdrawal from the 2022 U.S. Championships due to the same foot injury on her socials.
