Amer Đidić’s Professional Career
According to Wikipedia, Amer Đidić started his football career with Sherwood Park District SA and then spent time in the FC Edmonton Academy system before attending Baker University and becoming a two-time NAIA All-American.
On March 2, 2016, Swope Park Rangers of the United Soccer League (USL) signed him. Sporting Kansas City announced in August that they’d signed him on a short-term loan to play against Central FC in the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League.
On August 16, a 27-year-old made his first-team debut in the competition. He was nominated to the 2016 USL All-League First Team after getting fantastic reviews in his first season with Swope Park Rangers.
In May 2017, Amer Đidić was signed by Sporting Kansas City on a permanent deal but remained with the Rangers on loan for the rest of the season. As a result, he became the first Baker Wildcats football player to sign with an MLS team.
Sporting KC announced at the end of the 2017 season that they would exercise his option for the 2018 season.
On June 6, 2018, he earned his first start for Sporting KC since the 2016 season, starting in a 2–0 win over Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium in the US Open Cup Round of 32. After three seasons with the club, Sporting KC released Amer in 2018.
After leaving Kansas, he returned to USL to join San Antonio FC for the 2019 season. But, unfortunately, he was benched just after a couple of games and didn’t get much chance to play as he deserves.
Hence, on April 15, 2019, San Antonio terminated his contract in a mutual agreement.
After leaving San Antonio, Amer joined FC Edmonton of the Canadian Premier League, his local club. He appeared in nineteen league games and one Canadian Championship game.
A center-back went on a preseason trial with Major League Soccer team Vancouver Whitecaps FC while out of contract during the off-season.
Amer Đidići finished his trial with Vancouver on February 24, 2020, and returned home. Amer officially re-signed with Edmonton for the 2020 season on March 2, 2020.
In accord with the Canadian Premier League, he is currently at Pacific FC. On February 9, 2022, Pacific announced that they’d signed him for the upcoming CPL season.
Speaking of his international career, Amer was called up to the Canadian youth national team for the first time in March 2017 for an under-23 tournament in Qatar.
In September of that year, he was also called up to the senior team for a friendly against Jamaica, although he did not play.
In October 2019, he was called up to the national squad for a CONCACAF Nations League match against the United States. He debuted against Barbados on January 10, 2020, and scored his first goal.
