The first spell of Joseph was to Greece in Europe, and he moved to Malmo in 2000, where he spent five years and a short time as a teammate for a young Zlatan Ibrahimovic. After a brief stint in Denmark with Brondby, he returned to Sweden for a second, shorter stint with Malmo in 2010.
As a schoolboy, Elanga made his Under-18s Premier League North debut, coming on as a replacement in the division’s final match at Liverpool. He scored four times in 22 appearances for Neil Ryan’s Manchester United U18s squad as a first-year scholar during the 2018–19 season, including a Goal of the Month winner versus Newcastle United in March.
