Toni Collins was born in California to journalist Mara Antonieta Collins and has always been a sports fan. Collins returned to the United States after spending her early youth in Mexico, where Antonietta Collins played soccer at Saint Brendan High School in Miami. Collins’ mother was working on an article on the USA Women’s Soccer Team the same weekend as her senior prom.
