William Percey Wennington, popularly known as Bill Wennington, is a former Canadian professional basketball player. Wennington played with the Chicago Bulls and won three National Basketball Association (NBA) championships. He played as a center and represented Canada in the 1984 Olympics and the 1983 World University Games.

In the 1992 Olympics, Bill Wennington was on the Canadian team but did not qualify. Wennington is also placed in the Quebec Basketball Hall of Fame and the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame.

Born on April 26, 1963, Bill Wennington hails from Montreal, Quebec. However, he grew up in Long Island, New York. Wennington holds Canadian nationality and comes from a white ethnic background. His Zodiac sign is Taurus.

Later, Wennington attended St. John University and played on one NCAA Final Four team under basketball coach Lou Carnesecca.

Career

Bill Wennington started his professional career in 1985. In the 1985 NBA draft, the Dallas Mavericks drafted Wennington as a 16th pick in the first round. Following the draft, he played several of his first seasons. Despite playing several games, he made his NBA debut on October 29, 1985, and played until 1990 for the Mavericks.

On June 26, 1990, Wennington was traded for Rodney McCray to the Sacramento Kings. Followed by two 1990 first-round draft picks and two future second-round draft picks for the Kings. Later, Wennington played for a few years for the Virtus (Knorr) from Bologna, Italy.

In 1993, Wennington became a free agent after signing with the Chicago Bulls. He continued playing for the Chicago Bulls until 1999. His performance gained him a lot of fame. In 1993, the Chicago-area McDonald’s restaurant named a pizza after Wennington named Beef Wennington.

Although the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s were highly successful, the Bulls separated. After the separation of the Bulls, Wennington played his final NBA season with the Sacramento Kings. Wennington and Toni Kukoc were teammates on the Bulls.

As a professional basketball player, he has played alongside several NBA players like Michael Jordan, Ron Harper, Dennis Rodman, and Scottie Pippen. In his games, he was a backup center for Luc Longley. Wennington played 15 professional tournaments; 12 were in the NBA.

In 2015, Wennington was introduced into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame. Wennington ended his career in the 2000s. After he left basketball, Wennington became a radio color commentator for the Bulls.
