Playing Career
Bobby Hurley was a St. Anthone High School basketball star at Jersey City, where Bob Hurley Sr, his father, had long been a coach. From 1985 to 1989, Hurley coached St. Anthony at four straight national Parochial B Championships. In his older year, he averaged 20 points, eight assists, and three stolens leading St. Anthony to a record of 32–0, the first Champions Tournament in the school, and the top ranking in the nation. In his service as a point guard, Hurley led his high school team to an overall record of 115-5.
Hurley was a point guard on the Duke University team of Mike Krzyzewski from 1989 till 1993.
Bobby Hurley played all American in 1993, was a three-time Final Fours squad, led the Blue Devils to retro-national championships in 1991 and 1992, and won the Four Most Exceptional Player accolades in 1992 together with all-American colleagues Christian Laettner and Grant Hill.
With 1076 assists, Bobby Hurley is the NCAA’s all-time assist leader, as well as Duke’s single-game assist leader (16). In 1993, his Duke jersey number 11 was retired. Hurley was selected one of the fifty most significant players in Atlantic Coast Conference history on the ACC 50th Anniversary men’s basketball team in 2002.
Bobby Hurley was chosen seventh overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. He secured a shoe contract with ITZ (In The Zone), a new shoe business only sold at Foot Locker. Hurley was injured in an automobile accident on December 12, 1993, while going home after a game during his rookie season. A station wagon slammed into his SUV. When he was flung out of his vehicle, Hurley was not wearing a seat belt, and his wounds were severe and life-threatening.
For the 1994–95 season, Hurley returned to the NBA and continued playing for four more years. After retirement, Hurley became a thoroughbred owner and breeder. As a scout with the Philadelphia 76, he was employed in 2003. In the 1994 movie Blue Chips, Hurley played the Indiana team, coaching Bobby Knight.

Coaching career
On 13 April 2010, Bobby Hurley had been hired on the Wagner College as assistant coach of the men’s basketball team. Hurley has been joining the coaching team of Dan Hurley. Dan Hurley was hired as head coach of Wagner on April 6, 2010. As assistant coaches, Hurleys were appointed at Rhode Island in 2012. On 26 March 2013, the successor of Reggie Witherspoon, Hurley was named as head coach of the Buffalo Bulls. In 2014-15, Hurley guided the Bulls to participate in their first NCAA Tournament.
On 9 April 2015, Hurley was appointed Head Trainer in Arizona State. Hurley’s contract was extended through 2021 after a 15–17 debut season at Arizona State. ASU’s roster was bolstered by transfers and a few recruits in the second season. Hurley led Arizona State to their first 12–0 start and swept their non-conference slate in his third year as head coach.

Bobby’s parents Bob Hurley, American basketball coach, and Christine Hurley, were born and reared in Jersey City, New Jersey.
