    Charles began boxing at the age of 11 years old. At the age of 17, he captured the national Junior Olympics title in 2013 and the national Golden Gloves championship. In 2019, he also claimed the vacant USBA Super Welterweight title. He has received the ‘Amateur Athlete Of The Year award in 2017, as well as the Underarmour Youth Boxer Of The Year award in 2015. Charles also took first place in the 2016 165lb Olympic Trials. In 2017, Charles Conwell made his professional boxing debut, knocking out Jeremiah Page in the first round of their fight. He waged his bout throughout the United States for the next two years, never losing.

    Conwell’s next fight was a decisive victory over Ramses Agaton, prompting the referee to pause the fight after the fourth round. Agaton didn’t look good after taking a lot of punishment from the start, but the referee stopped the match after checking with the ringside physician, and Conwell won.

    Wendy Toussaint was Conwell’s opponent in his next match. Conwell was impressive in the early rounds of the fight. He injured his hand in round seven, which caused him a lot of pain, but it was the same hand that ended the fight two rounds later. Toussaint’s nose was broken by Conwell’s brutal uppercut, causing him to forfeit.

    The USBA super welterweight title bout between Charles Conwell and Patrick Day took place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on October 12, 2019. During their tenth round, Charles hit Patrick in the head so hard that he unconsciously dropped to the ring.

    Patrick was taken to the hospital right away, but he died four days later, on October 16, 2019, from a serious head injury.

    Whatever happened was an accident, and it was not Charles Conwell’s fault. After the war, on October 12, he wrote an emotional letter about his worry for Patrick Day and the fight that had been forced upon him.
