Chase played football, basketball, and baseball for Hedgesville High School in Hedgesville, West Virginia. Chase batted .500 and threw to a 1.95 ERA with 64 strikeouts as a junior in 2018.
Chase finished 9-2 with a 0.84 ERA over 66 innings as a senior in 2019 while hitting .606 with eight home runs, 52 RBIs, and 21 doubles. He was named the West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year.
