Career

D’Wayne began playing American football at a young age. Eskridge was a sprinter on the track squad and a football player. As a senior, he was named Indiana’s Mr. Track and Field. In 2015 and 2016, the player competed in track and won the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump at the Marion boys track regional. Eskridge chose Western Michigan over Ball State, which was the only other FBS program that offered him a scholarship, after graduating from high school. He entered the Western Michigan University as a three-star recruit.

In his rookie year, D’Wayne appeared in twelve games. In the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, he missed games against Buffalo and Wisconsin. Eskridge was a member of the MAC West Division champions and the Marathon MAC Championship Game champions. In addition, he made an appearance in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

D’Wayne Eskridge started all twelve games as a sophomore, catching 30 passes for 506 yards (16.87 yards per catch) and three touchdowns while also rushing four times for 13 yards. Eskridge appeared in eleven games as a junior, but only started seven of them. He was unable to play in games against Delaware State and Georgia State.

Following his effort against Syracuse in the season opener, he was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week. He caught 38 receptions for 776 yards and three scores as a junior. D’Wayne spent the offseason as a cornerback and is now a starter on both offense and defense for his senior year.
