    Career

Emanuel Augustus made his professional debut on July 23, 1994, against Jamie Cooper, winning by unanimous decision. He has appeared on ESPN2’s boxing shows Tuesday Night Fights and Friday Night Fights on numerous occasions.

Following his bout against Courtney Burton on July 6, 2004, in which he lost a controversial close decision, the welterweight gained some notoriety. Despite the fact that Burton’s points verdict was not overturned by the state of Michigan, he wanted a rematch.

Emanuel got a rematch defeating Burton on September 1, 2006, when he stopped Burton in the eighth round on ESPN with a left hook to the body, which was the opposite of the outcome in their original fight when Augustus disallowed a knockdown from a left hook to the body after referee Dan Kelley incorrectly claimed the knockdown was caused by an illegal low blow.

Augustus’ biggest win in terms of ratings came on July 19, 2002, when he defeated Carlos Wilfredo Vilches.
