Ekaterina Gordeeva Early Life
On May 28, 1971, Ekaterina Gordeeva was born under the sign of Gemini in Moscow, Russia. Her nickname is Katia, and her full name is Ekaterina Alexandrovna Gordeeva. Speaking of her physique, she is 5 feet 1 inch tall.

In 1982, Ekaterina was paired with Sergei Grinkov, and she was 11 years old at that time. They attained four world championships between 1986 and 1990.
The pair achieved the gold medal in the Olympic Games in Calgary, Alberta, in 1988. They turned professional in 1990 and won their first World Professional Championship the next year, and also won it in 1992 and 1994.
They are one of the only handful of pairs in history to complete a quadruple twist lift in an international contest.
On November 20, 1995, Katia lost Sergei to a heart attack while practicing for the opening night of the upcoming tour in Lake Placid, New York.
After her tragedic loss, she started to stake solo and performed emotionally in a televised tribute show called Sergei Grinkov: Celebration of a Life. Ekaterina is now a retired athlete and began coaching at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club in West Edmonton Mall.

Ekaterina was married to her late partner Sergei Grinkov in 1991, and the former couple has a daughter, Daria Sergeyevna Gordeeva-Grinkova.
After Sergei’s death, she dated Ilia Kulik, the 1998 men’s Olympic champion, and married on June 10, 2002. On June 15, 2001, her second daughter, Elizaveta Ilinichna Kulik, was born. However, she got divorced from Ilia in 2016.
And now, Ekaterina lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with her third husband, David Pelletier, a Canadian figure skater with whom she tied the knot on July 23, 2020.
