Munsey has played club cricket in Scotland for The Grange Club and the Watsonians. After finishing his schooling, he settled in Edinburgh and took his first contract at mid-Cricket Scotland in 2014. On April 21, 2019, playing for Gloucestershire 2nd XI against Bath in the Twenty20 illegal game, Munsey scored 147 runs off 39 balls. His 100th increase in 25 balls, hitting 50 off 17 balls and getting six in the over as Gloucestershire 2nd XI made 326/3 in their 20 overs. Bought by Brampton Wolves for the 2019 Global T20 Canada.

On August 24, 2020, Munsey signed for Hampshire with the 2020 Vitality Blast. He played for Kent in the 2021 Royal London One-Day Cup. He was selected to represent Scotland in their T20I tour of Ireland in June 2015 and the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in July 2015. He performed his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match against Ireland on June 18, 2015. He did Northamptonshire’s first match against Australia on August 15, 2015. He made his debut, One Day International (ODI), against Hong Kong on January 22, 2017. In June 2019, Munsey was selected to represent Scotland A on their trip to Ireland to play the Irish Wolves.

Later that month, Munsey was selected to play for the Brampton Wolves franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament. In July 2019, Munsey was chosen to play for the Glasgow giants in the first round of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. The following month, however, the game was canceled. In September 2019, Munsey was named in the Scotland squad for the 2019-20 Ireland Tri-Nation Series and the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates. Ahead of the T20 qualifiers, the International Cricket Council (ICC) selected him for the Scottish squad. He was the leading scorer in Scotland in the tournament, with 234 runs in eight games.

In the second match of the Irish tri-series, against the Netherlands, Munsey scored 127 unbeaten runs. It was his first 100 T20Is, and the fastest double in T20I cricket, coming out of 41 balls. In the exact match, Munsey and Kyle Coetzer made an opening partnership of 200 runs, the highest association of any Scottish wicket in the T20Is, and the third-highest league. Scotland went on to earn 252/3 of its 20 overs, the highest of which was in T20I cricket. In September 2021, Munsey was named to Scotland’s interim team for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
