Career
Mike Penberthy tried out for the Indian Pacers, but due to a ruptured right hamstring, he was unable to make the squad. Later, he joined the Idaho Stampede of the Continental Basketball Association. He later joined the Hamburg Tigers of Germany. Penberthy used to work as a forklift driver at Turk Terk, a firm run by his cousin, during the NBA lockout in the summer of 1998.
Mike joined the CBA team Quad City Thunder the following autumn but was released due to an injured right ankle. The six-foot-three Mike Penberthy played for the Venezuelan team Cocodrilos de Caracas from April to June 1999. Mike appeared in 56 NBA games for the Lakers, averaging 4.9 points, 1.3 assists, as well as 1.2 rebounds per game while playing an average of 15.4 minutes per game.
