Morgan Richardson Early life
Morgan Richardson is the daughter of Luke and Stephanie Richardson. Luke, her father, is the head coach of the A.H.L.’s Binghamton Senators and spent 21 seasons in the N.H.L. as a defenseman. Daron, her younger sister, passed away in November of 2010.
Morgan Richardson is an exceptional first-passing defenseman who prefers to stay at home. Morgan Richardson, a powerful and reliable competitor, was a Canadian U18 national team member, which recently won the world championship gold medal.
At Canada’s U18 nationals, she also earned a gold medal with Team Ontario Red. In addition, Morgan Richardson was an assistant captain for the Ottawa Senators P.W.H.L. squad, where she played at the club level. Richardson also spent two years in high school playing rugby and field hockey.

In 2006-07, Morgan Richardson competed in Peewee A.A. boys hockey in Ohio, winning a silver medal at the U.S. under 14 regionals. In addition, she was a member of the Canadian National Under 18 squad that played the United States in a three-game series in August 2011 during the 2011–12 season for the Canadian women’s national ice hockey team.
The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Canada Winter Games squad took on a group of Team O.W.H.A. selections (born in 1994 and 1995) at the Westwood Arena in Toronto on Thursday, February 17 February 2011. In honor of Morgan’s younger sister, Daron Richardson, all players wore a purple heart with the letters “D.I.F.D.” on their left shoulder. The O.W.H.A. select team was coached by Luke Richardson, and Morgan was a member of the team.
Morgan Richardson has appeared in every game for the Big Red this season, scoring three points while splitting time between defense and left-wing. On November 2 November 2, she scored her first career goal against Princeton, and on January 15, she had a career-high two assists against Syracuse.
Morgan, a key defensive player for the Big Red, was one of only seven players to play in all 34 games this season. She had five points on one goal and four assists for a total of five points. In-Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey Tournament semifinals versus Princeton, she scored Cornell’s opening goal, which the Big Red went on to win 5-3. Her assists came against St. Lawrence, Syracuse, Yale, and Rensselaer, among others. This season, Morgan Richardson also had 31 blocks.
Richardson had an excellent junior season, thanks to her increased role on the blue line. In terms of goals, assists, and points, she set new career highs. On December 1 December 1, she scored the lone goal in the Big Red’s 1-1 game with Mercyhurst.
Morgan Richardson played in every game for the fourth year in a row, never missing a game in her four years at Cornell, and finished tied for fifth in career games played with 132. Richardson, who was frequently on the top defensive pair, remained a reliable stay-at-home defenseman.
Morgan has 43 blocked shots and two assists on the season, including assisting the Big Red’s first goal of the season, which came against national powerhouse Boston College. In addition, she was selected one of five nominees for the national Hockey Humanitarian Award for her efforts with Do It For Daron, a youth mental health awareness program, off the ice.
