Nhooph Al-Areebi is a professional wrestler born in Toronto, Canada. She is known under the ring name Aliyah on the WWE NXT. She made her first appearance at the NXT TakeOver on January 12, 2016. Nhooph Al-Areebi was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She comes from a Syrian and Iraqi family and grew up in a strict, conservative Muslim home environment. Her parents were refugees. In 2012, she graduated from St. Joseph’s School and went on to attend George Brown College, where she studied to become a nurse. She also attended school to train to become a circus performer. Nhooph Al-Areebi decided she wanted to become a wrestler after watching a WWE RAW wrestling match between Beth Phoenix and Mickie James on May 5, 2008. Her favorite wrestlers are Edge and Jeff Hardy.

Nhooph Al-Areebi wrestled on the independent wrestling scene under the ring name Jasmin Areebi, making her debut for Squared Circle Wrestling (SCW) in Toronto, Canada in January 2013. She wrestled for a variety of wrestling associations in Canada and the United States, including Pure Wrestling Association (PWA), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), and New England Championship Wrestling (NECW).
Her career made a breakthrough in the prominent wrestling scene when she was offered a contract by the WWE on March 17, 2015. It was reported that Al–Areebi had signed a developmental contract with WWE which was confirmed on April 13. She made her first appearance at an NXT event on May 20, 2015. Nhooph Al-Areebi made her in-ring debut on June 20 during an NXT live event, where she competed in a six-way tag team match. In October of the same year, she was given the ring name Aliyah.
On the April 27 episode of NXT, Aliyah appeared in her first televised singles match, in which she suffered a loss to Carmella. Towards the end of the year, Aliyah debuted her new ring gear and the entrance music, leaving the Arabian gimmick that she had initially used, and picked up her first victory as part of the brand.

On January 3, 2017, Aliyah made her first main roster appearance as she appeared on WWE SmackDown Live and featured in a match that she lost to Carmella. Throughout 2018, Aliyah continued losing to various opponents. In September, Aliyah was officially working as a heel and had started a short alliance with fellow wrestler Lacey Evans. The duo was handed a tag team match in which they were victorious, marking Al-Areebi’s (Aliyah’s) first victory in over a year.
Before joining the WWE and becoming “Aliyah”, Nhooph Al-Areebi was an acclaimed amateur wrestler. She won the GXW Women’s Championship and the Great Canadian Wrestling Women’s Championship. After making her debut for the Pure Wrestling Association in 2014, she won the PWA Woman’s Championship and got everyone’s attention. Her fame in the Amateur wrestling scene is what drew WWE’s attention towards this undiscovered gem.
She hasn’t had much success as a professional wrestler yet and seems to have setbacks every other appearance that is halting her rise as a fan favorite. However, there is still time for the 26-year-old Aliyah as she can still turn her career around and as every WWE fan knows, it only takes one match to do so.
Aliyah has maintained an under-the-radar personal life and she doesn’t like to make her life stories public. We know that she is single but not looking for a boyfriend. She comes from a strict family so it must be difficult for her to manage her personal and public life together. But given the fact she defied her parents and went on to become a wrestler, we can say for sure that Nhooph Al-Areebi is a woman with a bold personality and ambitions to soar high.

It isn’t clear how much exactly Nhooph Al-Areebi earns in a year, but given the fact that an average WWE wrestler earns from around $500,000 to $1 million, we can assume that she is making something in that range. Her annual salary including win bonuses could be around $700,000 but we hope she surpasses that in days to come.
Nhooph Al-Areebi is very active in her social media accounts. Her Twitter account amasses almost 140 thousand followers and her Instagram page has 290,000 people who actively follow her to stay up to date with her life. She uses her Instagram account to post her WWE career pictures as well as her private life in which she is seen as a beautiful girl who gives off a slight Arabian fantasy look.
