Randall Cobb played football during his high-school days and was a letterman in the school football team. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association awarded him the Mr. Football trophy, and he used to play on the offense and the defense during that time. He played for the Tornadoes mostly as a quarterback.

Randall Cobb played as a quarterback during his early days with the University of Kentucky. He scored a total of 11 touchdowns in his freshman career, and for the sophomore career, he played in the position of a wide receiver with 15 touchdowns. Before qualifying as a professional, Randall had seven receiving touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, and three passing touchdowns. His college career had 36 game appearances in which he made a total of 22 rushing touchdowns and a total of 13 receiving touchdowns.

After his 2020 season with the Houston Texans, Cobb returned to the Green Bay Packers in 2021. He played for Green Bay during the 2021 and 2022 seasons before joining the New York Jets in 2023.
