He completed his high school education at Welsh Jesuit High School and graduated from Ohio State University. Armour played on the Nationwide Tour, now the Korn Ferry Tour, from 2004 to 2006. He also starred in the N.G.A. Hooter Tour in 2002 and 2003 and the Golden Bear Tour in 2003. Armour received his P.G.A. Tour season card in 2007 for completing T13 at Q-School in 2006. He also got qualified for the FedEx Cup in 2007. However, after completing 172nd on the P.G.A. Tour fundraiser in 2008, Armour lost his P.G.A. Tour card and returned to the Nationwide Tour in 2009, where he played in 2012 and again in 2014. He finished 20th in the regular Web.com Tour season, then 40th in the Web.com Tour Finals to receive his P.G.A. Tour card for the 2014-15 season.

In 2014-15, he finished 195th on FedEx’s points list: the 200th was a local cut in the Web.com Tour Finals.
