Shola was born on February 2, 2004, in Newcastle upon Tyne to his Nigerian parents. He is of Nigerian descent but later moved to England and joined the youth establishment of England. When Shola was young, he played for Whitley Boys Club, Newcastle City Juniors, Wallsend Boys Club, and Hebburn and Cramlington Juniors. In December 2018, Shola became the youngest player to ever appear in the UEFA Youth League at 314 days. Seeing his impressive performance, coach Neil Wood made his first debut at the age of 16, where he scored a hat-trick against Blackburn, which made it possible for people to get to know him.

Shhoretire signed his first contract with Manchester United on February 8, 2021, a week after turning 17 years old. On February 21, 2021, he played for his first team at United as a replacement for Marcus Rashford in the 88th minute of a home league game against Newcastle United. Four days later, Shola became the youngest player in United to emerge from the European competition, replacing Mason Greenwood in a 0-0 home game against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League at the age of 17 and 23 days, beating a record set by Norman Whiteside 38 years earlier in 108 days.

For his role with the youth teams, Shhoretire was named Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year in 2020/21. Born in England to a Nigerian mother and a British mother, Shoretire was qualified to represent both countries at the international level. In August 2019, Shoretire represented England under 16 against the Republic of Ireland. On March 29, 2021, Shhoretire played for the England Under-18 national team in a 2–0 win over Wales U18’s at Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff.
