Yeferson Soteldo was born in Acarigua Venezuela on 30th June 1997 and moved to Caracas as a teenager. After a tough time in Caracas, his early coach at Caracas FC gives him a contract with Zamora FC at the age of 16. On September 16, 2013, he made his first-team – and Primera División – debut, replacing Jhon Murillo as a late substitute in a 0–0 home draw against Atlético Venezuela.
He has played for the Brazilian club Santos and the Venezuela national team. For his new club. Soteldo signed a four-year deal with Santos FC on January 12th, 2019. He extended his term until December 2023 on February 11, 2020. Yeferson Soteldo moved to Chilean Primera División club Huachipato for a fee of € 1.5 million on December 20, 2016. On February 17, he made his international debut, replacing Leonardo Povea in a 2–1 home victory over Universidad de Chile. He was called up by Venezuela national team boss Noel Sanvicente for a friendly against Costa Rica on January 19, 2016. On February 2, he made his entire international debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1–0 win in Barinas.
Soteldo made his international debut on 22 July 2017, scoring his team’s third goal in a 4–0 home win over Deportes Valdivia in the Copa Chile. He signed a one-year loan contract with fellow top-tier club Universidad de Chile on January 11, 2018. La U paid a premium of US$1.5 million for the loan, with a buyout option of 50% of his rights fixed at US$3.5 million. As a regular starter, he made 26 league appearances and scored five goals. He on January 12, 2019, signed a four-year deal with Santos FC. He made his club debut twelve days later, replacing Felippe Cardoso and scoring his team’s third goal in a 4–0 away win over So Bento in the Campeonato Paulista.
He quickly established himself as an undisputed starter under Jorge Sampaoli, scoring two braces in November against Botafogo (4–1 home win) and Goiás (3–0 away win). He extended his term until December 2023 on February 11, 2020.
Soteldo’s club Santos FC announced on April 24, 2021, that he had been sold to MLS club Toronto FC for a fee of $6.5 million. The fee covers 75% of his playing rights which allows Santos FC to escape a transfer suspension enforced by FIFA after they failed to reimburse Huachipato in 2019. He made his debut against the New York Red Bulls on May 8, 2021, as a substitute.
