Akeal Hosein Early Life

Trinidad cricket player was born on April 25, 1993, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Tobago, where he grew up with his father, Michael Hosein, playing cricket in the backyard. Hosein grew up playing cricket with his family.

Akeal parents have always been a great support. Hosein attended Success Laventille Composite Secondary School in Port of Spain with his older sister Natasha Hosein, two younger brothers, and a sister.

Akeal Jerome Hosein represented the West Indies under-19 team at Australia’s 2012 Under 19 World Cup. His first-class clash with Trinidad and Tobago came in the 2012-13 Regional Four Day Competition against Jamaica.

The following season, Hosein was the leading scorer in consecutive games, taking 6/33 and 5/34 against the Windward Islands and then hit the first century, 102 unbeaten, against the Leewards.

He then signed with the Barbados Tridents for the 2014 Caribbean Premier League and has appeared for the team in the 2014 Champions League Twenty20 and the 2015 CPL tournaments.

In June 2021, Akeal was added to the West Indies Twenty20 International (T20I) team in its series with South Africa. He made his T20I debut on July 3, 2021, in the West Indies against South Africa.

In July 2021, Akeal was included in the West Indies team to play in the final T20I against Australia. In September 2021, Hosein was named one of the four finalists in the West Indies squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

In October 2021, Akeal was added to the West Indies’ 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup replacement for Fabian Allen, who was ruled out with an ankle injury.
