    Phil Stockman is a former striker in Major League baseball. The former Brisbane Bandit striker has represented the Australian national baseball team at the 2006 World baseball Classics and regularly coached with coaches during the 2014-15 Australian Baseball League season. Phil won a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

    Arizona Diamondbacks signed Phil, a Texas League All-Star, in 2003. In 2006, the former Brisbane Bandit striker signed with the Braves as a free agent and made his debut in 2008.

    Phil Stockman Early Life

    On January 25, 1980, Phil was born in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. However, the former Brisbane Bandits pitcher grew up in Australia despite being born in England. Young Phil used to play baseball in his childhood in the backyard.

    The former Brisbane Bandits pitcher has been a baseball fan ever since childhood. Phil attended Beenleigh State High School in Brisbane, where he played baseball during his school years.

    Although Phil was born in England, he grew up in Australia and graduated from Beenleigh State High School in Brisbane, Australia. He has represented that country as an Australian national baseball team member. While on the team, Stockman won a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and participated in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

    Initially signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, Stockman was a Texas League All-Star in 2003 while serving as the first striker for El Paso Diablos. He signed with the Braves as a free agent for the league for six years in 2006 and was promoted during the season to the majors.

    His contract was bought from Richmond Braves on June 14, 2008, in place of RHP Chris Reitsma, who was put on a 15-day disability list. He made his debut the next day.

    Then, on May 16, 2008, Stockman was called up to the major leagues and set up a 1-point innings inning against Oakland on May 17, including his first two career hits.

    He was released on March 15, 2009, due to injuries. In the first 2010-11 season of the Australian Baseball League, Phil played for the Brisbane Bandits, becoming the first former MLB to play for them.

    Phil finished his career in the Australian Baseball league that season, earning a 2.45 ERA in 10 games, with a miserly .067 strike rate against him. Stockman has been part of the team’s coaches since the 2014-15 Australian Baseball League season.
