    Alena Sharp was born in Hamilton, Ontario, on March 7, 1981. Pat Sharp and her husband, John Sharp, have three children together. Tara and Vicki are Alena’s younger sisters. After graduating from high school, Sharp enrolled at New Mexico State University.

    Alena Sharp began playing golf when she was ten years old. During her early years, both of her parents were extremely supportive. She won the 2000 Big West Conference Championship, the 2002 NMSU Invitational, and the 2002 and 2003 Sun Belt Conference Championships while playing golf for New Mexico State University. Sharp became professional in 2003 and won the BMO Financial Group Canadian Women’s Tour’s Canadian PGA Women’s Championship in 2004.

    Alena Sharp made her LPGA debut in 2005 and has remained with the tour ever since. She won the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship the same year. Sharp returned to the Symetra Tour in 2014 for a season, winning the Visit Mesa Gateway Classic.

    Alena Sharp placed in the top 30 on her Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. A week later, she finished fourth in the Canadian Open in front of her home crowd, birdieing her final two holes for her career-best performance.
