Early Life

Montree Thitikul and Siriwan Thitikul are the parents of HSBC women’s champion Atthaya Thitikul. Her family was highly supportive of her decision to pursue a career as a golfer.

Professional Career

Her breakthrough into the international golf scene came with her victory on the Ladies European Tour at the Ladies European Thailand Championship. She had already competed in the Honda LPGA Thailand on the LPGA Tour three days after her 14th birthday, finishing 37th out of 66 competitors. She had earned her spot in the field by completing second in the Thailand Amateur Open the previous August when she was only 13 years and six months old.

She began her golf career at the age of six and has had tremendous success. In the 2017 season, she finished second in Thailand Amateur. She was only entering her adolescence at the time.

She competed in the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship in Singapore in February 2018, shortly after turning 15 years old. In the final round, she was part of a four-way tie, but she went on to win the title. Her win earned her a spot in the HSBC Women’s Champions on the same course and entries into the ANA Inspiration in Mission Hills, California, and a place in the British Open for the second year in a row.

After winning those titles, she began her professional golf career in early 2020. In her professional career, she won the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in 2021. Again, she was overwhelmed by her fans because she was able to survive the covid-19 pandemic.

Hana Financial Group sponsored her golf trip. Kris Assawapimonporn, a former assistant coach for Thailand’s national team, taught Thitikul how to play golf. Assawapimonporn is also the MJK management’s director of performance.
