She was chosen to the McDonald’s All-American team as a senior after averaging 23.7 points, 10 rebounds, 4.4 steals, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. Laney played 129 games with 107 starts in high school, averaging 10.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

    Laney appeared in 32 games during her first season. She concluded her rookie year with a 6 point per game average. Betnijah was named to the Big East Freshman All-Star Team. Laney appeared in thirty games during her sophomore season, averaging 31.1 minutes per game. Laney averaged 9.7 points per game for the season.

    Betnijah Laney appeared in 35 games as a junior, averaging 11.8 points per game. She was chosen to the All-ACC Second Team. Many expected her to declare for the 2014 WNBA draft, but she chose to return for her senior year instead. Betnijah increased her stats, appearing in 32 games, and finishing her senior year with a 15.8 point per game average.

    With the 17th overall pick in the draft, the Chicago Sky selected her. In 33 games as a rookie, Laney averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds. She spent the 2016 season with the Perth Lynx before returning to the Skys at the end of the season. Laney tore her left anterior cruciate ligament and was ruled out for the rest of the season.
