Daniel Wass Career

He debuted for the Brøndby Danish Superliga team in the 2007–08 season by then-manager Tom Køhlert. Unfortunately, Daniel played half of the matches that season due to injury.

However, he earned a starting spot as a right defender after returning from injury in the 2008–09 season.

As a result, Daniel appeared in 28 of Brøndby’s possible 33 games and assisted the team to third place in the Superliga, their highest finish since second place in the 2005–06 season.

Brøndby manager Kent Nielsen believed Daniel Wass should spend more time developing at another club. Thus, the club loaned him to Fredrikstad, a medal-winning Norwegian team.

Daniel made his debut in a 4–1 loss to Rosenborg on August 21, 2009, and Daniel played the entire 90 minutes over Lyn on November 1, 2009.

When the board of Fredrikstad FK hired a new manager, however, new coach Tom Nordlie warned him that an offensive right-back was not in his plans.

Hence, Daniel only got three games before being sent back to Brøndby in December 2009. Despite this, he played more games for Brøndby over the remainder of the 2009–10 season, solidifying his place in the starting eleven.

The 2010–11 season demonstrated his importance for the Brøndby squad when he was selected as a first-choice right-back for the first 19 games.

However, during the three-month winter break in the Superliga between December and March, Daniel informed he’d not be renewing his contract with Brøndby in February.

On May 20, 2011, Daniel revealed that he had signed a five-year contract with Benfica. Thus, he was loaned out to Evian Thonon Gaillard F.C. on July 22, 2011, without appearing in any official Benfica games.

After moving there, he joined fellow Danish Stephan Andersen, Christian Poulsen, and Thomas Kahlenberg at Evian.

Under the management of Casoni, he struggled to get into the first squad at the start of the season, and it took him almost three months to make his Evian debut.

Finally, Daniel made his debut on October 15, playing right midfield and impacting as he assisted on a goal in a 2–1 loss to Saint-Étienne. After his debut, he scored three goals against Lorient, Rennes, and Toulouse.
