    Cibulková began her career on the ITF circuit, where she won two tournaments: one in Amarante, Portugal, in 2005, and another in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2006. During the 2007 Grand Slam, she began the year by defeating Tara Iyer in the first round of the CANARA Bank Open.

    Cibulková also lost in the first round of the Australian Open to Flavia Pennetta. Cibulková reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in 2009 but lost to Elena Dementieva. Cibulková began 2010 by reaching the ASB Classic quarterfinals, where she was defeated by top seed Flavia Pennetta.

    She advanced to the quarter-finals in 2011, beating Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci. Cibulková was seeded 17th in the Australian Open in 2012, losing in the second round to Gréta Arn, and in 2013, she reached the final of the Sydney Apia International, defeating top 10 players Petra Kvitová, Sara Errani, and Angelique Kerber.

    Dominika has also worked as an actress. Cibulková received the Draen Petrovi Award for Junior Female Athlete as well as the EOC Piotr Nurowski Prize in 2013.
