Early Life

Gabriel José Moreno was born on February 14, 2000, in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. He was born in a family with humble beginnings. In search of his dream, Moreno moved to the United States, where he was able to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays franchise as an international free agent on Aug 3, 2016. He was handed a debut with the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays by the organization in 2017.

Standing at 5 ft 11 inches, and weighing 160 lbs, Gabriel Moreno has a physique that allows him to perform exceptionally well. At just age 21, he has already shown signs of quickness and athleticism that appeal most to evaluators. Those skills are what give the Blue Jays confidence in Moreno as a catcher, something they hope he’ll only get better at with time. The Blue Jays organization has worked with Moreno to improve his plate discipline, which he showed in the Venezuelan Winter League the last off-season.

Gabriel Moreno is considered to be one of the hottest prospects of the MLB. With the Toronto Blue Jays sports organization owning his rights, he has played for various teams under the banner in the Minor League and has impressed everyone including the team management and his fans. He was recently promoted by the Blue Jays to play for the Buffalo Bisons where we hope he can deliver even better performances than he has been. In 2012, Gabriel Moreno played for the GCL Blue Jays and the rookie-level team Bluefield Blue Jays in which he performed exceptionally well. The following year, he was promoted to the Single-A side Lansing Lugnuts where he also scored some great home runs. 2020 was a dry year for Moreno as the Minor League Baseball’s entire season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic but for the 2021 season, he was added to the Blue Jay’s 40-man roster and was assigned to play for the next tier Double-A side New Hampshire Fisher Cats where he currently plays.
Recently On July 3, 2021, he had to take a break from playing after he suffered a fracture in his right thumb and had to undergo surgery.

Move to Buffalo Bisons

Entering the 2021 season, the Toronto Blue Jays had a farm system that ranked within the top ten in all of Major League Baseball. The quality of young talents they produce has been a sight to behold. Especially since they have so many teams under the banner, which act as platforms to launch young talents, their homegrown players have made some very good impressions on the MLB scene. After seeing him perform amazingly with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the management decided to promote Gabriel Moreno to the AAA side Buffalo Bisons, and he is set to feature on the bigger stage after he recovers from his surgery.
