Liverpool was established in 1892. It participated in the “England Football League” in 1893. The club has been playing its home matches in the “Anfield” football stadium. It evolved as one of the best football clubs in the European scenario during the 1970s and 1980s. The skills of the star players Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, Bill Shankly, and Joe Fagan were the main players of the team to make the team won “League Titles” eleven times and “European Cups” four times. It also won the “European Cups” in 2005 and 2019. The club won the “Premiere League Title” for the first time in 2020.

History

Birth Year

The club’s birth was a result of the dispute between the club “Everton” and the then president of the club John Houlding. John founded the club in the Anfield stadium in 1892. Before the establishment of the club, “Everton” used to play in the club. The previous name of the Liverpool was “Everton F.C. And Athletic Grounds Ltd.”The official name of the club was changed into “Liverpool F.C.” in March 1892. It received its official recognition in June 1892.

Liverpool played its first match on 1st September 1892. It was a friendly match against the club “Rotherham Town.” The team won the match with the finals scores of “7-1.” Most of the players in the team were players from Scotland. Those players were famous as the “Scotch Professors.” The addition of the players was an output of the visit of the manager John McKenna to Scotland.

The players were also popular as “Team of Macs.”  The club succeeded in winning the “Lancashire League” in the “1892 Season.” This success helped the team reach the “Football League Second Division” in the “1893-94 season.” The club succeeded in winning the matches in 1901. This promoted the club to the ‘First Division.” It again repeated the history in 1906.

1900’s

Liverpool succeeded in reaching the finals of the “FA Cup” for the first time in 1914. The team lost the match against the club “Burnley” with a final score of “1-0.” It also succeeded in winning the “League Championships” continuously in 1922 and 1923. The team had to wait for another victory till the “1946-47 season.” The team succeeded in winning the “First Division” for the fifth time in that season. It again had to bear the loss in the “FA Cup” for the second time in 1950.

The team had faced the match against the team “Arsenal.” It moved to the “Second Division” in the “1953-54 season.” It also lost the match against the team “Worcester City” for the “FA Cup” in the “1958-59 season.” The final score of the match was “2-1.” Then, Bill Shankly took the responsibility of a manager in the club. He made a lot of changes in the club. The establishment of “Boot Room” was one of the biggest changes. He, along with other coaches of the team, started reshaping the team in the “Boot Room.”

After the significant changes, the club got promotions in the “First Division” again in 1962. It also won the “First Division League” in 1964. It was the victory after seventeen years. The club also succeeded in winning the “FA Cup” for the first time in 1965. It also won the “First Division” again in 1966. The team lost the match against the “Borussia Dortmund” in the ‘European Cup” in the same year. The team succeeded in winning the “UEFA Cup” and the “League”  in the “1972-73 season.” It also won the “FA Cup” in the “1973-74 season.” Then, Boba Paisley took the responsibility of the manager of the club.

Similarly, the club succeeded in winning the “UEFA Cup” and “League” in 1976. The club succeeded in retaining the title and win the “European Cup” for the first time in the 1977 season. It succeeded in winning the “FA Cup” in the year. The club bagged the “European Cup” in 1978. It succeeded in winning the “First Division” title for the first time in 1979. The club had won a total of 20 tournaments during the managerial period of “Bob Paisley.”  It included one “UEFA Cup,” and three “League Cups,” six “League” titles.

Joe Fagan became the new manager of the club in 1983. The team succeeded in winning “League Cup,” “League,” and “European Cup” in the season. The club became the first team to win three titles for the first time. It also reached the finals of the “European Cup” in 1985. The match was against the team “Juventus” at Heysel Stadium. This is when the “Heysel Stadium Disaster.”

A total of 39 people lost their lives in this traumatic event. This resulted in the banns of the “European Competition” for five years. Liverpool had to face a ban of ten years as the breaching offense was initiated by Liverpool’s followers. This ban was decreased to six years. Kenny Dalglish was the manager of the club during that time. The team succeeded in winning “League titles” three times, “FA Cups” two times in the “1985-86 season.”

The club again had to face the “Hillsborough Disaster” on April 15, 1989. It was the match against “Nottingham Forest.” This resulted in the loss of 92 lives of people. After the proper investigation and Issuance of the “Taylor Report,” it was found that it resulted from overcrowding and the failure of police in controlling it.

The club started to gain a lot of popularity, matches with the passing years; the team defeated “Tottenham Hotspur” to win the “2019 UEFA Champions League.” It also defeated “Flamengo” to win the finals of the “FIFA Club World Cup.” The club also won the “2019-20 Premier League.”
