Max Purcell Career

In July 2016, Purcell qualified and won the Gimcheon Challenger in South Korea against Andrew Whittington of Australia. However, Purcell is ranked 762nd globally, leading him to become the second-lowest player to win the ATP Challenger in 16 years.  He finished the season at 324 in the world.

In 2017, Purcell received a wild card at a double event at the Australian Open, where he met Alex De Minaur. The two lost in the first round with two Spanish giants Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Pablo Carreno Busta. Purcell made the final of the Futures Tour in 2017, buying three titles. Purcell won his first opponent in the top 20 after beating World No. 16 and top seed Gaël Monfils in Eastbourne as Lucky Loser reached his first quarterfinal of the first ATP  and then recorded another victory with Andreas Seppi to earn his first semi-finalists. Another Italian, Lorenzo Sonego, defeated him. After this great competition, he won his second Challenger singles title, the 2021 Presidential Cup (tennis) at Nur Sultan. As a result, he was successful to enter the top 200 in the professional category in singles No. 190 on July 19, 2021.
