Senior Career
Meritan Shabani joined Bayern Munich II’s squad for the 2017–18 season. On October 27, 2017, he made his Regionalliga Bayern debut, replacing Fabian Benko in the 82nd minute in a 1–1 home draw versus FV Illertissen.
Meritan made his Bundesliga debut for the first team in a 4–1 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt on April 28, 2018, starting the game before being replaced by Thiago in the 56th minute.

Meritan made his reserve team debut on August 5, 2018, netting the game’s second goal in the 45th minute of a 2–0 home win over FV Illertissen.
On 8 August 2019, Munich sold out him to English side Wolves. He signed a three-year contract with the Wolves and debuted against Reading in the 2019–20 EFL Cup third round on 25 September 2019.
However, he sustained an injury in less than 10 minutes on the pitch and was forced to leave. Meritan went through the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, which made him skip the remainder of the 2019–20 season.
On 1 February 2021, Meritan signed for Dutch side VVV-Venlo on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season. On 30 June 2021, he returned to Wolves and is now busy playing for the club’s U23.
International Career
Although he sat on the bench in both matches, Meritan was called up by the Germany U18 squad for a training camp that included two friendly matches against the Republic of Ireland and Holland in November 2016.
