Early life

Rodolfo Pizarro was born on February 15, 1994, in Tampico, Mexico. He worked through the Pachuca youth team’s divisions. Rodolfo and Laura are his parents, and he has a sibling named Uriel. His full name is Rodolfo Gilbert Pizarro Thomas.

Club career

Pizarro began his youth football career with Orinegros Ciudad Madero; then, in 2011, he joined the Pachuca Youth System. Pizarro made his senior squad debut on September 14, 2012, as a 71st-minute substitute in a 3–2 win over Morelia. Rodolfo Pizarro was a right-back at the time of his debut. He scored his debut goal in a 5–2 loss against Dorados de Sinaloa in a Copa MX group stage match on February 19, 2013.

Rodolfo Pizarro was instrumental in Pachuca’s Clausura 2016 championship success, alongside other youth system colleagues Hirving Lozano and Érick Gutiérrez.

Pachuca confirmed in December 2016 that Pizarro had been sold to Guadalajara for an estimated $15 million in a transaction that also saw Victor Guzmán permanently join Pachuca. Guadalajara defeated Morelia in the Clausura Copa MX final in April. Pizarro would prove crucial during the Clausura tournament the following month, scoring in the first leg of the final against Tigres UANL to help Guadalajara win the trophy, ending an eleven-year drought of league titles.

Guadalajara sporting director Francisco Gabriel de Anda formally announced Pizarro’s transfer to fellow league club Monterrey for an estimated $16 million on June 4, 2018.

Following a protracted dispute between the clubs over the activation of his release clause, Pizarro left Monterrey for Inter Miami on February 14, 2020. Pizarro scored the first goal for Miami in a 2–1 preseason friendly loss to Philadelphia Union the next day, despite not being formally announced as a signing for the club. Pizarro’s move to Miami was finalized on February 17, and Rodolfo Pizarro was named the club’s second Designated Player.

International career

Ral Gutiérrez selected Pizarro to compete in the 2014 Toulon Tournament. Coach Ral Gutiérrez selected Rodolfo Pizarro to compete in the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship on September 18, 2015. The tournament’s Best XI included Pizarro. Rodolfo Pizarro was named to Mexico’s 18-man Olympic team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 7, 2016. He scored Mexico’s second goal in their first group round encounter against Germany.

Rodolfo Pizarro was named to Mexico’s preliminary team for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup and then to the final squad.
