    EARLY LIFE AND FAMILY

    Born on 30th May of 1980, his father Paul Gerrard and mother Julie Ann Gerrard were very supportive. He was born in Whiston, Merseyside and at an early age, he was selected playing for his home team Whiston Juniors. Steven Gerrard also had an older brother named Paul. He was quickly then noticed by Liverpool Academy to get proper training at the age of nine. At the age of fourteen, he officially signed a contract with Liverpool. It was on 29th November 1998 when he made his debut for the team in the premier league. Before he signed his contract with Liverpool, he had also been in talks with another big team of the premier company, i.e. Manchester United.

     

    CAREER

    Steven Gerrard has put down his shoes as a player but has been a manager of Rangers of Scottish Premiership. Before being a manager, Steven Gerrard made 502 appearances for Liverpool as a midfielder. Many football pundits Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho claim him as one of the best players in the world of his generation. He was also sponsored by many brands like Adidas, Jaguar, and Lucozade. In his whole career, he played in a different position in the field as per other changing managers.

    At his prime, he was a box to box player who dominated the field in terms of endurance. At the beginning of his career, he was not good at playmaking, but he was good at winning balls from the opponent. As he gained experience, he became an excellent playmaker and was well known for it. Steven Gerrard played 17 seasons for Liverpool, and in that time he was there he won a lot of trophies with the club.

    Liverpool appointed him as the captain of the team in October of 2003 he is the longest-serving captain in Liverpool football history. He played his last match against Stoke city F.C. on 24th May 2015 where Liverpool lost 6-1 against them. He scored the only goal making it his final goal with Liverpool.

    In his time with Liverpool, he won 9 trophies in total. He won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, and many other awards with Liverpool. Liverpool John Moores University also gave him the Honorary Fellowship for his contribution to the club. He was 3rd place in 2005’s Balloon d’Or along with Ronaldinho and Frank Lampard. He was also made a member of the “Order of the British Empire” by Queen Elizabeth II in her 2007 new year honors list.

    Steven Gerrard went to America and joined the L.A. Galaxy of Major League on 11th July 2015 after finishing the 2014-2015 season of the premier league with Liverpool. Gerrard had difficulties playing in America and announced his retirement in 2016. He played his final game on 6th November 2016 where they lost the game in a penalty shootout.

    After he was done with his 2016 season, Steven Gerrard was appointed as a coach for the Liverpool youth team in January 2017. He was quickly given a chance to take over the under-18 squad of Liverpool for the 2017-2018 season and again was given another opportunity to manage the under-19 team for the 2017-18 UEFA youth league.

    After his experience of managing the youth team of Liverpool in 2018, he became the manager of club Rangers of Scottish premiership. He has signed a four-year contract with the club and has been doing pretty well with the team.

    PERSONAL LIFE

    Steven Gerrard has been married to Alex Curran since 16th June of 2007. He has four children, one son and three girls. His youngest son was born on 29th April 2018. Unlike many other football superstars, he has a good healthy relationship with his wife as well as his children.
