Walker Kessler started basketball with his father, and in high school, he played for Woodward Academy. Kessler averaged 17.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.2 blocks per game during the senior high school season. Ultimately, his team won their first Class 4A state title

He was given The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Player of the Year with his game performances and Mr. Georgia Basketball and Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year. In addition, Kessler was selected in the McDonald’s All-American and also competed for Game Elite on the Amateur Athletic Union circuit.

Before joining college, Kessler was offered to play for several colleges, including Duke, Michigan, Virginia, and Vanderbilt. However, the decision concluded with Kessler committing to North Carolina University on September 22, 2019.

College Highlights

Walker Kessler attended North Carolina University in 2020. He played for North Carolina in the ACC Tournament and scored 16 points, 12 rebounds, and eight blocks in a 101–59 win against Notre Dame.

The ACC Tournament concluded with Kessler setting a North Carolina freshman record and an ACC Tournament record for blocks in a game and averaged 4.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in his freshman season.

In 2021, Kessler left North Carolina and transferred to Auburn University, ultimately choosing the Tigers over Gonzaga. In a match against LSU the same season, he scored a triple-double of 16 points, a career-high 11 blocks, and ten rebounds.
