Kennedy Chandler began basketball in high school at grade eight, playing for Briarcrest Christian School. He helped his team reach the Division II-AA semifinals in his freshman season. Later in his sophomore season, Chandler set an average of 19.5 points, four rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
In a tournament against Brentwood Academy, Chandler earned the most valuable player honors after scoring 20 points in a 65-54 win. The game concluded with Briarcrest winning the DII-AA state title and was named DII-AA Tennessee Mr. Basketball.

After the season’s conclusion, Chandler and Mokan Elite won the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Pearl Jam. In his junior season, Chandler led the team to a state runner-up finish setting an average of 22.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. In addition, he was named DII-AA Tennessee Mr. Basketball for his second straight year.
Chandler transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy for his senior season, where he averaged 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game and set a record 21-4. Chandler was further named in the McDonald’s All-American Game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Nike Hoop Summit rosters.
