    Eric Bugenhagen was born in Franklin, Wisconsin, on December 1, 1987, under the sign of Sagittarius. Like any other athlete, he is picky about what he shares about his life in the media.     Early career

    Eric Bugenhagen wrestled for NCAA Division I the University of Wisconsin under Barry Davis after earning a state championship at Franklin High School in Franklin, Wisconsin. From 2006 to 2011, Bugenhagen wrestled for the Wisconsin Badgers, starting at 184 pounds in his sophomore year and moving up to heavyweight in his junior and senior years. Bugenhagen qualified for the NCAA Championships twice, in 2010 and 2011, at Omaha, Nebraska, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, respectively.

    Eric Bugenhagen wrestled in a U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier and went 2-4 at the NCAAs. He earned a kinesiology degree and went on to work as a wrestling coach for his alma mater following graduation.

    Professional career

    Eric Bugenhagen made his professional wrestling debut on WWE NXT Live on October 19, 2017, where he lost a singles bout against Lars Sullivan. He returned to wrestling at NXT live events under the ring moniker Ric Boog after an injury set him back significantly.

    He competed in a 20-man battle royal as Rik Bugez on the May 1, 2019 episode of WWE Worlds Collide, battling against other notable superstars such as Brian Kendrick, Akira Tozawa, Drew Gulak, Tyler Bate, and the winner Roderick Strong. Then, on the February 22, 2020 episode of WWE NXT Live, Bugez wrestled against Finn Balor in a losing effort, highlighting his career.

    Bugez was one of many NXT performers utilized as a temporary audience on Raw at the start of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020. He made multiple appearances as an extra in the main shows. Additionally, Bugez portrayed Joseph Average/The Nightpanther, an Old Spice representative, in several backstage advertisements at Fastlane and after WrestleMania 37. He defeated R-Truth and Akira Tozawa twice to win the WWE 24/7 Championship. However, the second reign is not officially recognized by WWE.

    Eric Bugenhagen, now known as Rick Boogs, made his main roster debut on SmackDown on May 21, 2021, bringing Shinsuke Nakamura to the ring with an electric guitar. On January 17, 2020, Bugenhagen debuted on the independent sector as Rik Bugez at EVOLVE 143, a show promoted by Evolve under their relationship with WWE, when he faced Joe Gacy in a losing effort.
