    John Riel Casimero is a three-time world heavyweight champion and is a top Filipino boxer who has held the WBO Bantamweight title since 2019. He also owns a double flyweight title. John is a born winner with a professional record of 30-4 win-loss ratio boxing. In which 21 wins came out of the knockouts.

    He is nicknamed “Quadro Maye,” which means the four Aces show good luck and health. John was born on February 13, 1990, in Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines. His father is Servando Casimero Jr. He has been supporting John since his childhood. John was a strong, physically fit the child. His passion for boxing has inspired him to try boxing as a professional. Casimero embarked on his professional journey on August 23, 2008.

    John Riel Casimero Career

    On August 23, 2008, just one year after turning into a pro, Casimero defeated Rodel Quilaton by the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight title, which won a unanimous decision in ten rounds. After the fight, John was relegated to the lightweight division, beating Liempetch Sor Veerapol of Thailand by a technical knockout in the fifth round to claim the WBO Asia Pacific Light Flyweight title at the time. Casimero successfully defended the title two bouts later against Ardin Diale until he received the biggest break of his career. Then, on December 19, 2009, in Managua, Nicaragua, John won the vacant WBO light flyweight title, defeating former WBA Light Flyweight champion César Canchola of Colombia.

    Canchola had a record 28-2 coming into the fight, and his final loss came from current WBA light flyweight world champion Giovanni Segura, who had previously won him a temporary title. However, John did a fantastic job, and the fight was the first outside of his country. He managed to beat Canchila several times until the referee finally stopped the game in the 11th round in a 12-point temporary belt fight. This victory could give Casimero the title against Iván Calderón of Puerto Rico, who once beat Filipino boxer Rodel Mayol.

    John fought Ramón García Hirales on July 3, 2010, defending his first WBO lightweight title for the first time but lost the split. John was shot for the first time, winning the world title when he challenged South African Moruti Mthalane to win the IBF flyweight title on March 26, 2011. However, he was suspended by South Africa in five rounds, thus the second loss of his career. In his first defense of the IBF junior flyweight title, Casimero faced Pedro Guevara of Mexico on August 4, 2012. However, he suffered defeat in the first round and fought to win the split.

    He successfully defended his title for the second time against WBC Latino light flyweight champion Luis Alberto Rios on March 16, 2013. His third defense was with Felipe Salguero on October 26, 2013, and he won the eleventh championship. John defeated Liempetch Sor Veerapol in the next match to claim the WBA Asia Pacific Flyweight title. In addition, John won the interim WBA Flyweight title after defeating Colombia’s Cesar Canchila.

    John fought many games in the lightweight division. Then, he entered the Flyweight Division and ousted Ruenroeng to become the Flyweight Champion. Casimero is currently fighting in the Bantamweight Divison. He nominated Zolani Tete to become the WBO Bantamweight Champion on November 30, 2019. John won two Olympic gold medals at Guillermo Rigondeaux on August 14, 2021. Casimero was awarded a victory with scores 117-111 and 116-112 in favor of him, and 115-113 supported Rigondeaux.
