Kihei Clark Early Life
Kihei is the oldest son of Malik and Sharon Clark and was born in Tarzana, California, on January 25, 2000. He is presently 21 years old and has an astrological sign of Aquarius.
His mother is Filipino, and his father is Chinese and black. Malik proposed to Sharon in Kihei, Hawaii, and their son was named after that place.
Kihei played soccer and martial arts until he was eight years old when he decided to devote his time to basketball. Maybe his father encouraged him to begin practicing the sport because Malik was also a collegiate basketball player who played for Hawaii–Hilo of the NCAA Division II. Kihei Clark Career
Kihei played basketball for the Buckley School in 2014–15, averaging 15.2 points and six assists per game. Then, he switched to William Howard Taft Charter High School in Woodland Hills for his sophomore year.
His average is 19.4 points, 7.2 assists, and 2.9 steals as a senior while shooting 41 percent from three-point range. Kihei was widely regarded as a three-star prospect.
He had a verbal commitment to play collegiate basketball for UC Davis. However, he realized that he could play at a better level in August 2017. So, on October 2, 2017, Kihei committed to Virginia after considering Gonzaga and UCLA.
Kihei made his Virginia debut on November 6, 2018, in a 73–42 win over Towson, earning four points and six assists, his season-high. On January 26, 2019, he set a season-best with 12 points in an 82–55 win over Notre Dame.
Clark had 12 points and six assists in the Sweet Sixteen round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament on March 29, tying career highs in both categories in a 53–49 win against 12th-seeded Oregon.
Two days later, he created a 40-foot pass that let teammate Mamadi Diakite hit a buzzer-beating jumper and force OT in an Elite Eight matchup against third-seeded Purdue.
His five assists were vital in Virginia’s 80–75 victory. On April 8, he had three points and four assists in 33 minutes to help his team defeat third-seeded Texas Tech in the national championship game.
As a freshman, the young talent began 20 games, averaging 4.5 points and 2.6 assists in 26.8 minutes per game.
Kihei Clark Awards & Achievements
Kihei scored 16 points in a 69–51 loss against Campbell Hall School in the CIF Southern Section Division 4A semifinals, earning All-Liberty League honors. He was named team MVP and all-conference after averaging 12.1 points and 6.9 assists in the 2015–16 season.
Kihei won team MVP, all-city, and all-conference honors as a junior, averaging 18.9 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. In addition, Clark set a school record by tallying 22 assists in a single game during the season.
He was voted MVP of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) Peach Jam in the summer of 2017 after leading his Oakland Soldiers club to a championship.
