Monica Wright started her basketball career in her high school in Woodbridge. She was a no.1 player on her women’s basketball team. It was that moment when Monica was named as a Gatorade Virginia player of the year because of her playing skills.
After graduating from high school, Wright joined the University of Virginia. She also rocked on her college and was named as ACC Rookie of the year. Moreover, Monica continues to show her different skills and technique and started to gain more awards and fame during her college career.
But before Wright also wins a gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Championship event held in Bratislava, Slovakia 2007.
In 2010, Monica was also named as WBCA NCAA division defensive player of the year. At that, she already started to play as a senior basketball player.
Wright started her professional career in Minnesota Lynx for the second pick in 2010 WNBA draft. Her skills are even more impressive when she at that time and started to recognized as WNBA All-rookie team.
