New York Knicks is a professional basketball team from America. It represents the “Atlantic Division” in the “National Basketball Association” (NBA).  The team plays its home matches in the “Madison Square Garden.” It is one of the two teams residing in New York City.  The team started a smooth start at the beginning of its establishment. The first coach of the team was Joe Lapchick. The team succeeded to play in the finals of the NBA continuously three times since 1950.

Likewise, the New York Knicks started to show its dominance after Red Holzman became the head coach of the team in 1960. Red was responsible to take the team into the “NBA Championships” in 1970 and 1973. The team was having a great career in 1980. The team was competing with the teams like “Indiana Pacers”, “Chicago Bulls” and “Miami Heat” in the1990s.

The guidance of the head coaches Jeff Van Gundy and Pat had Riley had made the gameplay of the team dominant. This also resulted in the participation of the team in the finals of the “NBA” in 1994 and 1999. The team also struggled a lot to win a lot of tournaments since 2000. It won their “First Division Title” after nineteen years in the “2012-2013 season.”

Max Kase played a major role in the establishment of the New York Knicks. He wrote a proposal for the Ned Irish to make the team play in the Madison Square Garden. The “Basketball Association of America” (BAA) collaborated with the “National Basketball League” (NBL) before the beginning of the “1949-50 season.” The team remained in the ” Eastern Division.” The team succeeded to win a total of 40 games. The team failed to win the final match against the “Syracuse Nationals” in the finals of the “Eastern Division.”

Likewise, Sweetwater Clifton joined New York Knicks in the 1950-1951 season. This was the first time that a professional American basketball team had added an African-American player to the team.  The team succeeded to finish the season with a final score of “36-30.” After being the second runner up in the division, the team succeeded to enter the “NBA Finals.” It failed to win the match against the “Rochester Royals.” The team failed to win the match against the team “Minneapolis Lakers” in the finals in1952 and 1953.

Moreover, Carl Braun retired as the leading scorer from the New York Knicks team. His points were 10,449 during the time of his retirement. Vince Boryla became the new head coach of the team in February 1956. The team succeeded to win the match against the team “St. Louis Hawks.” But still, the team didn’t perform well in the two seasons. Then, Vince resigned from the post in April 1958. Andrew Levane became the new head coach of the team. He succeeded to get the best results out of the team in the first team.

New York Knicks finished the season with a final score of “40-32.” Despite the great performance, the team failed to clear the semi-finals of the “Eastern Division.” Carl Braun became the player-coach for the first time on the team in the “1956-60 season.”

A lot of changes of the coaches in the New York Knicks team was also not gaining the great output. This again resulted in the changing of the coach. Eddie Donovan became the new coach of the team. The team again failed to achieve the “playoff  berth.” The team won the match against the team “Philadelphia Warriors” on 2nd March 1962.  Wilt Chamberlain had scored an “NBA-record 100 points” in the match. The final score of the match was “169-147.”

The New York Knicks started to show stable performance in 1964.  Willis Reed joined the team and even became the “NBA Rookie of the Year.” The team started slowly in 1965. The team failed to pass the semi-finals in the “Eastern Divison” in 1965. It won the first match against the “Warriors” in the “1967-68 season.” The team won the match with a final score of “124-122.”

New York Knicks lost the other six matches in a row. The team succeeded to win the match against the “Los Angeles Lakers” on 1st November 1967. Willis Reed even scored a “career-high” of 53 points in the game. Then, Red Holzman became the new head coach of the team. The team succeeded to gain a record of “28-17.” Dave DeBusschere joined the team in the 1969 season. The team succeeded to win gain a record of “54-28.” It also reached the finals of the “Eastern Division” in 1968.

New York Knicks had an amazing year in the “1973-74 season.” The team succeeded to reach the finals of the “Eastern Conference.” And Willis Reed went for retirement after the season.  The team again started losing the games. The team entered the “NBA Draft Lottery” for the first time in the summer of 1985. It succeeds to add Patrick Ewing to the team in the draft. Patrick succeeded to become the “NBA Rookie of the Year Award” in the season. Rick Pitino became the new head coach of the “1987-88 season.” The team succeeded to win the match against the team “76ers” in the first round of the “playoffs.”

New York Knicks underwent a lot of ups and downs with the passing years. Donnie Walsh became the new president of the team on 2nd April 2008. Mike D-Antoni became the new head coach of the team on 13th Amy, 2008. He signed a four-year contract with the team. It was a deal of $24 million. The team with a lot of changes started going ahead. The “2010-2013 season” was the era of Carmelo Anthony for the team. This was followed by the “Phil Jackson era” in between the 2013-2017 season. Leon Rose became the new president of the team on 2nd March 2020.
