Travis Blackley Career

On October 29, 2000, the Seattle Mariners were signed by Blackley as a free unregistered agent. He soon started playing in a minor league, beginning with the Single-A Everett AquaSox in 2001.

He then played for the Single-A San Bernardino Stampede in 2002, the Double-A San Antonio Missions in 2003, and the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers in 2004. On July 1, 2004, Blackey made his first major league game against the Texas Rangers and beat him, becoming just the sixth Mariner striker in team history to start and win his first league game.

On April 1, 2007, Blackley was sold to the San Francisco Giants and immediately selected for Triple-A Fresno.

On September 23, 2007, he made his league debut on July 31, 2004, against the Cincinnati Reds and won his first Giant game. However, the Giants later sacked him on December 6, 2007, and the Philadelphia Phillies appointed Blackley for the major league division of Rule 5.

At the end of the spring 2008 training, Philadelphia fired him, and he became a free agent at the end of the season. On December 19, 2008, the Arizona Diamondbacks signed Blackey to a major league contract but signed him to Triple-A Reno on April 1, 2009. He started in 2010 playing for New York Mets’ AAA in partnership with the Buffalo Bisons. He was released on May 2.

Eleven days later, he was signed with Oakland Athletics. Oakland Athletics gave him his partner Triple-A, the Sacramento River Cats. In 2011, Blackley played for the Kia Tigers in the KBO League, playing 25 games and recording seven wins and five losses with an ERA of 3.48.

In 2012, he returned to the San Francisco Giants but signed a minor league contract. On May 15, 2012, Oakland Athletics sued him and signed him to a minor league contract. Athletic traded Blackey to the Houston Astros on April 4, 2013. Five days later, the Houston Astros traded Blackley to the Texas Rangers.

In December 2013, he signed with Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles for Nippon Professional baseball. On January 12, 2015, the San Francisco Giants signed Blackley a minor league contract. He moved to Miami Marlins on a minor league contract three months later.

He played against Pericos de Puebla of the Mexican League the following year. In the fall of 2016, Blacey joined the Detroit Tigers in a minor league contract. On April 1, 2017, the Tigers were released. In 2017, he returned to Pericos de Puebla for the Mexican Baseball league.

After that, he played for the Australian Baseball League: the Melbourne Aces and the Brisbane Bandits. On February 6, 2021, Blackley retired from professional baseball, announcing via Twitter.
